Hello bloggers I hope you are very well, after a week I've stopped by to show you my last children's book illustration, this time illustrating one of the months that I love to illustrate the most. Halloween is an excellent time for my creativity because I can think of many ideas to capture. I show you what this one is about and as always we take a look at the process.
Hola blogueros espero estén muy bien, luego de una semana he pasado por acá para mostrarles mi ultima ilustración de libro infantil, esta vez ilustrando uno de los meses que mas amo ilustrar. Halloween es una época excelente para mi creatividad porque se me ocurren muchas ideas para plasmar. Te muestro de que trata esta y como siempre echamos un ojo al proceso.

The main idea in this sketch was an old witch doing spells and potions in the outskirts of a forest. But it looked a bit more terrifying than it should be Xd, and being a child illustration I decided to change it for a girl. I liked that change because I love to represent children as main characters.
La idea principal en este boceto era una bruja anciana haciendo hechizos y pociones en las afueras de un bosque. Pero se veía algo mas terrorífica de lo que debía Xd, y siendo una ilustración infantil pues decidí cambiarla por una niña. Me gustó ese cambio porque amo representar niños como personajes principales.

This was also a composition that I liked a lot because I made it mainly thinking that it would look like the cover of a children's story or book. I have been very happy with this composition and I don't think I would change anything about it up to this point, maybe in a few months I will realize that it could be different.
Esta igualmente fue una composición que me gustó mucho porque la hice principalmente pensando para que se viera como la portada de un cuento o libro infantil. He quedado muy a gusto con esta composición y creo que hasta este momento no le cambiaría nada, puede que en unos meses me de cuenta de que podría ser distinto.

As for the color palette I used, it was a real challenge because my fellow children's book illustrators almost always use the traditional palette of green, orange and purple to represent this Halloween holiday, for this occasion I decided that not one color or the other would predominate but rather that they would all form the composition in a more discreet and not so obvious way, although it is still evident that they are like that.
En cuento a la paleta de color que usé, fue un verdadero desafío porque mis colegas ilustradores de libros infantiles casi siempre usan la paleta tradicional de verde, naranja y violeta para representar esta fiesta de Halloween, por esta ocasión decidí que no predominara un color u otro si no que mas bien todos formaran la composición de una manera mas discreta y no tan obvia, aunque siga siendo evidente que están así.

To finalize the illustration, I liked to place a background with a large haunted castle, and an illuminated night, I also gave a few touches of darkness to better accentuate the night atmosphere of the illustration. I also gave a few small touches of backlighting to enhance certain parts and that's how this piece was finished. Para finalizar la ilustración, me gustó colocar un fondo con un gran castillo embrujado, y una noche iluminada, di también unos toques de oscuridad para acentuar mejor la atmosfera de noche de la ilustración. También di unos pequeños toques de contraluces para realzar ciertas partes y así estuvo finalizada esta pieza. Déjame sabe si te gustó, y si te gusta este mes tanto cómo a mi. nos vemos la próxima.
