As a first step I made a sketch on the canvas.
After giving the background I began to give value to the first cloth.
I consecutively gave color to the rest of the elements.
As a small exercise I wanted to make an appropriation of the work Girl with a Pearl Earring by the painter Johannes Vermeer, made between 1665 and 1667. I really like this painting, even before I started painting.
Today I made it my own with a different message and took the opportunity to start with the oil on canvas technique. I enjoyed it very much, it is very different from working with acrylics. Although I used the same modus operandi, it feels more slippery to the touch and dries much slower, I like that because it gives me the possibility to recreate myself more and do the blending easily.
The good thing we have as human beings is that we interpret everything we see according to who we are. That is why art is so infinite and a single piece can play in such different ways and with thousands of possible readings.
I invite you to tell me what you can interpret from this modification that I made of the original version.
Como pequeño ejercicio quise hacer una apropiación de la obra La joven de la perla del pintor Johannes Vermeer, realizada entre 1665 y 1667. Me gusta mucho este cuadro, incluso antes de empezar a pintar.
Hoy lo hice mío con un mensaje diferente y aproveché para comenzar con la técnica del óleo sobre lienzo. Lo disfruté mucho, es muy diferente a trabajar con acrílicos. Aunque usé el mismo modus operandi, se siente más resbaladizo al tacto y seca mucho más lento, eso me gusta porque me da la posibilidad de recrearme más y mezclar fácilmente.
Lo bueno que tenemos como seres humanos es que interpretamos todo lo que vemos según quiénes somos. Por eso el arte es tan infinito y una sola pieza puede jugar de maneras tan diferentes y con miles de lecturas posibles.
