Hello again, my friends.
I hope I find you well. It's getting a little difficult keep my promise to keep a regular posting schedule as I'm shifting my attention to trying to get more work in the commercial industry side. That demands that I work on a lot of other unpaid art for my portfolio. But I'll try to keep a regular habit and post as often as one can.
As promised from my prior post featuring my original character, here is a drawing I did that inspired it. This a fan art drawing of Thorin Oakenshield from Tolkien's Hobbit. this was done for my portfolio.
The idea was just to portrait Thorin how I see him in my head. I feel that this is way more faithful to his described character in the books. To boot, I tried humanizing a dwarve so I used my face in part as a reference to his likeness. Admittedly, I look nothing like this handsome fellow.
Process
There isn't much that can be said about my process since I followd a charcoal technique that I used to use when I started learning and making art. The process requires me to follow a very simple process that involves: form block in, framing and erasing. Following that, I build up the lighting. I then tone the drawing with a gradient map to define and separate the shadow and light value.
Thank you for taking that little time to let me share with you.
If you're interested in commissioning me for a piece, you can contact me via twitter DMs and my email
Bye-bye!!!
