One interesting fact is that the very first time I made a piece (whether digital or graphite) for the Splinterlands Art Contest what I drew was this character, the Hobgoblin. I had previously seen its stance with the knife and fell in love with it. Back then (about three years ago) I was playing around with negative portraits of you can remember. Back then I drew this wonderful character with colours on a black background using the hatching technique. My buildup back then was still in its infancy and it is just sad that I never fully developed it ever since.
Anyway, the art piece didn’t get the attention I anticipated and the curation wasn’t encouraging. Because of that, I decided to try out graphite for some time and eventually I did well. Later on I went back to my digital pieces but only started getting better after a year or two. Even now I am still learning (especially backgrounds 😂)
Since this character means a lot to me I had to make sure the stance was worthy and well reflected in my piece. So I used one of the vectors I got on Pinterest to come up with a wonderful result.
The process....
