Hello friends, I hope you are very well, today I want to share with you my participation in the Splinterlands weekly contest, my fan art of the Earth Elemental card, one of the oldest and most popular cards in the game. Its design reminded me of some trees that appeared in a very old Mortal Kombat game on the Super Nintendo, so I also did it thinking a little about nostalgia of how I loved playing that game for long hours. So my Fan Art is oriented to make a tree with human characteristics but with a very terrifying expression, since it is a character of the earth element like a tree, I added another element such as fire, to make a contrast. I hope you enjoy.
Hola amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi participación en el concurso semanal de Splinterlands, mi fan art de la carta Earth Elemental, una de las cartas más antiguas y posicionadas del juego. Su diseño me recordó a unos árboles que aparecían en un juego muy viejo de Mortal Kombat el el Super Nintendo, así que lo hice también pensando un poco en la nostalgia de como adoraba jugar ese juego por largas horas. Así que mi Fan Art va orientado a realizar un árbol con características humanas pero de expresión muy aterradora, como se trata de un personaje del elemento tierra como un árbol, yo agregué otro elemento como fue el fuego, para hacer un contraste. I started doing the sketch with a simple pencil, my goal was to do it only using pencils of different tips but then, as is my custom, I finally decided to use colors. So I made the figure of a tree with many ramifications on the top, and especially two parts that looked like its arms and that also the endings looked like claws, in the same way I turned the root into its feet. As a base for the color I used a very light green, so that it retains some life and doesn't look completely dead.
Comencé haciendo el boceto con un lápiz sencillo, mi objetivo era hacerlo solamente utilizando lápices de diferente punta pero luego, como es costumbre en mi al final decidí usar colores. Así que hice la figura de un árbol con muchas ramificaciones en la parte de arriba, y especialmente dos partes que parecieran sus brazos y que también las terminaciones lucieran como garras, de la misma forma la raíz la convertí en sus pies. Como base para el color utilicé un verde muy claro, para que conserve algo de vida y no se vea del todo muerto.

Next I began to loosen my hand with the color and having the green color layer that I wanted I started with the contrast for the shadows, as the trees have a very irregular surface due to their shape, I made many ramifications that I had to darken so that they were noticeable , so I started using a wide range of brown shades to achieve this goal. Using the lightest brown color called ocher, which blends very well with green and forms a good color transition.
Seguidamente comencé a soltar la mano con el color y al tener la capa de color verde que quería comencé con el contraste para las sombras, como los árboles tienen una superficie muy irregular debido a su forma, hice muchas ramificaciones que debía oscurecer para que se notaran, así que comencé a utilizar una amplia gama de tonos de color café para lograr este objetivo. Utilizando el color café más claro llamado ocre, que se funde muy bien con el verde y forma una buena transición de colores.

As I mentioned before, playing with the brown tones, I shaped the entire trunk from root to tip, and also added some dark blue to make that shading look a little different. I painted the devilish eyes and the mouth just like the Halloween pumpkins, as if they had a light burning inside, that's what I meant when I said that I had incorporated the element of fire into the character design of the card.
Como mencioné anteriormente, jugando con los tonos café le fui dando forma todo el tronco desde la raíz a la punta, y también agregaba algo de azul oscuro para que ese sombreado se viera un poco diferente. Los ojos diabólicos y la boca los pinté así como las calabaza de Halloween, como si tuvieran una luz encendida por dentro, a eso es a lo que me refería cuando dije que había incorporado el elemento fuego al diseño del personaje de la carta.

To finish with the Fan Art I added a little more red color to the internal fire so that the flames could be better appreciated. So also with the background, I made a random mix of colors to represent the earth and finally the leaves of the branches could not be missing, I made them mixing all the green colors available, that's how it was finished.
Para finalizar con el Fan Art agregué un poco más de color rojo al fuego interno para que se pudieran apreciar mejor las llamas. Así también con el fondo, hice una mezcla aleatoria de colores para representar la tierra y por último las hojas de las ramas no podían faltar, las hice mezclando todos los colores verdes disponibles, así quedó finalizado.
This is how I have finished my fan art of the Earth Elemental card, I apologize for my lack of expressiveness, but right now I am going through a bloody black hole in my life that has compromised my health in the worst way, but despite that I continue to give my Best effort, I'm glad there's a place like the Hive where you can find refuge.
