Hi once again, how is your weekend going? mine is great, because I arrived just in time to participate in the first edition of Cosmic Creations, the new contest held in the Alien Art Hive community and you don't know how much I love these events.
The theme of this first edition is Spaceships and Alien Transportation something very according to the name of the community, but I didn't want to stick 100% to mechanics and conventional ships, so I wanted to play a little with my imagination and I created the most surrealistic thing I could think of, something that doesn't end up being an alien or a ship.
Also this time I wanted to get out of my artistic style, I wanted to work on something more flat and with outline, which I never really do, but a few days ago I was invited to another illustration contest with a pretty high prize, but it was a contest with a more political illustration style like the ones you see in the newspapers, but I did not participate because I'm not used to that style, so expanding my range of skills in digital art is great.

-Step 1:
Much of the time I have invested in this illustration I have spent on the lines, polishing more and more the idea, because I really did not know how to shape an organic ship with humanoid shape and I wanted to avoid looking for references on pinterest, so I did not complicate, half humanoid, half machine and let it come out what it had to come out.

-Step 2:
Once I had a nice outline, I proceeded to select the color palette, but I didn't go for the typical blue used for space environments, I selected more dirty and opaque colors that could highlight the illuminated area of the alien's face.

-Step 3:
To give that metal sensation, I have configured a layer with the function "outer glow" and then in this same option select the fusion mode "hard light" which allows me to paint in a light color and immediately there is a soft edge with a brighter color, if you paint in digital, I recommend you try this option, I saw it on instagram and it blew my mind how fast you can illuminate in this way

-Step 4:
From the first sketch I had that option to make clouds in the background, and since in this illustration realism is not worth, I allowed myself to make these clouds with some stars whirling inside, I also wanted to make the pair of luminous rings, why? because in some spaceship designs there are rotating bases to generate artificial gravity or to have solar panels, so I decided that these rings are to feed energy to the ship.
So now it's time for you to tell me in the comments if you think this is a complete nonsense or it can make sense in some way.

I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.

I think it's an excellent idea, and organic transport is one of the coolest alien-type technologies imaginable. Great job!
For me the best reference of organic technology is H. R. Giger, the one who designed the original Xenomorph, but I wanted to get away from his style
He was my favorite artist growing up and i was fortunate to have been able to collect some of his books that are no longer in print! Smart move to try a different style!
I love the inventiveness of this one, very creative interpretation :)
