I fought the landscape and it defeated me!
Hey guys, today I’m here to tell you how I lost a battle within Splinterlands. Not in the game though, I always lose battles against other players, but this time I was defeated while trying to create art for the world of Splinterlands.
I own a Skyspire Yak and wanted to make it look all-powerful amidst the Skyspire mountains, but I couldn't make them the way I wanted. The landscape turned out too flat and not very detailed, and I couldn't create the snowstorm as I had imagined. It was definitely a painful defeat after spending hours and hours trying to improve the painting. Today I tried to make art, and I lost, but I’m not giving up!💪

🔰Process🔰
-Step 1:
As you all know, I always want the scenes in my illustrations to be dynamic and reflect action, so I wanted my Yak to be charging, ready to ram whatever is in front of it amidst the icy mountains.
-Step 2:
And after filling in the silhouette of the Yak, I started working on those icy mountains, to begin giving color tones to the environment of the illustration, and thus begin my fight against the landscape.
-Step 3:
But first, I worked on the Yak's fur, and most importantly, on the plates covering its back. I envisioned these as very strong pieces of crystal, so I tried to give them that texture while also covering the sketch lines.
-Step 4:
And this was the moment I started feeling defeated. I was trying to improve the background and give the mountains and snow good textures, but I was far from what I wanted to achieve, and the hours just kept passing. So, I called this battle off. I accept my defeat, but I will be back! Someday, I will create an amazing background with snowy mountains and snow everywhere.
-Step 5:
I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.
See you in a future post!
