Kore returns home

I made this a couple of weeks ago, but got stuck after the initiation on the war of Ukraine. Art seems meaningless every time a new war breaks out. But… what else can I do.

This painting is called, Kore returns home, and refers to a mythological tale. Kore the daughter of Demeter was stolen by Hades, and dragged to the realm of the dead where she resided as a queen under the name of Persephone. Her mother, the goddess of agriculture, was devastated and refused to let anything grow until her daughter was returned to her. So a deal was brokered by the Gods. In the winter Kore was to be with Hades, in the summer she would be with her mother… The Eleusinian Mysteries was founded on this myth.

OOH love this one. Presented with the myth, it is very beautiful. The caption Lord Summerbleak is intriguing, since summer is not generally bleak.

The caption is actually from another work, and I just copied the lower part of the post... It's here: https://peakd.com/hive-158694/@katharsisdrill/lord-summerbleak :)

Ancient cultures came up with all sorts of weird stuff. These days they could get a deal with Netflix :) The human imagination is endlessly wonderful.

And often the Netflix stuff is based on the ideas of the old ones :)

Lots of recycled ideas there, but some cool stuff that seems to be original. They have mined a lot of comics.

All art builds on older art... although there must have been a first... The invention of painting, music etc. We're probably on the other side of 50,000 years ago
