¡Hola Hivers! Os traigo mi nueva participación en el Concurso de Arte de #Splinterlands. Esta vez he elegido la carta DOCTOR BLIGHT es una unidad legendaria de tipo normal.
Me gusto mucho el diseño del personaje, y tras pensar en varias ideas, hubo una que me pareció la más indicada para el personaje. Quería crear algo sombrío u oscuro, con una vista del personaje en plano americano, con un vistazo de las sombrías calles de una ciudad nocturna bajo la lluvia.
Hello Hivers! I bring you my new participation in the #Splinterlands Art Contest. This time I have chosen the card DOCTOR BLIGHT is a legendary unit of normal type.
I really liked the design of the character, and after thinking about several ideas, there was one that seemed the most suitable for the character. I wanted to create something somber or dark, with an American plane view of the character, with a glimpse of the gloomy streets of a night city in the rain.
Comencé haciendo el boceto del fondo para poder ubicar mejor el personaje, como es una pieza compleja y el hecho de que quería algo con baja saturación e iluminación, decide hacer la pieza en blanco y negro y luego agregar un poco de color.
Use varios pinceles con textura para darle un aspecto más tradicional, sobre el personaje cambie algunas cosas como la linterna que ahora seria como un quemador de inciensos con una cadena para darle un toque como de un arma mágica.
I started by sketching the background so I could better place the character, as it is a complex piece and the fact that I wanted something with low saturation and lighting, I decided to do the piece in black and white and then add some color.
I used several textured brushes to give it a more traditional look, on the character I changed some things like the lantern that now would be like an incense burner with a chain to give it a touch of a magic weapon.
Coloque varios puntos de luz extras para contrastar con el resto y resaltar el personaje.
A este punto comencé a pulir los detalles de toda la pieza, para luego agregar el color con varias capas de mapas de degradado y de color des saturado. Ya casi finalizando y como paso final agregue la lluvia con un pincel que cree especialmente para esta ocasión y los detalles de gotas en la ropa del personaje.
I placed several extra points of light to contrast with the rest and highlight the character.
At this point I began to polish the details of the whole piece, and then add the color with several layers of gradient maps and desaturated color. Almost finished and as a final step I added the rain with a brush that I created especially for this occasion and the details of drops on the character's clothes.
Esta pieza me tomo alrededor de 30 capas, algo raro porque por lo general suelo usar mucho menos y me pareció algo interesante de contar. Bueno, esto fue todo, fue divertido hacer algo diferente.
This piece took me about 30 layers, something strange because I usually use much less and I thought it was something interesting to tell. Well, that was it, it was fun to do something different.

The scene is giving me all this kind of horrific vibe.
The empty street, it's night and its' even raining is suggesting that the viewer is alone and helpless in a dark street with Doctor Blight coming for them. The rain is giving this impression that any call for help or screams will be nullified.
