I think I'm late this week, but I hope to get into the round. This is my illustration for "Splinterlands Art Contest Week 323!". I actually finished it last night, but I wasn't feeling well and I didn't post it at the time. I like to draw while sitting, and I also like to write while sitting even though I have a laptop. But when I'm sitting I feel pain, and then I couldn't stand it. How horrible to be a being that menstruates and suffers from hormonal processes!. Leaving that aside, for this occasion my inspiration has been: Cryptic.
One of the styles I feel most comfortable with is the Chiby style, I really like how charming a character can be in this version. But I had a dilemma, with hair or without hair? The character in the original art doesn't show hair, however I didn't want to leave my version bald haha. Another dilemma I had was the expression, chibis are cute, but my inspiration character has a happy evil expression that I couldn't leave aside because I would lose part of the essence.
Inspiration, Original Splinterlands Art:
Let's quickly see Drawing process:
I started with a quick sketch to position my character. I really wanted a similar pose and at the same time, a cute and magical version. Then I went on to shape the lines that suited me for the body, clothes and features. I combined an outline with cleaning, using the eraser tool to speed up this phase as much as possible. Then I went on to give base colors, using the paint bucket tool. I wanted to work on the background before moving on to the effects and lights, because it would help me better establish where the lights and shadows would go.
As for the brushes, I used a custom brush for the outline, airbrush, blur and some layers of color effects.
