I had an amazing week at work, lots of paperwork and taking some photos at school for the Christmas promotion, which made me away from home. Thank God I was able to find some time to illustrate my entry for "Splinterlands Art Contest Week 322!". For this occasion my inspiration was: Rush Townsend.
As you know, my favorite drawing style is comic-like with a touch of retro. But I don't know, lately I've had a hard time visualizing the lights. I don't know, I guess it happens sometimes, like a creative block of lights 🤣. Despite that, I think I was able to reflect the strength and character of the original character. And as always, backgrounds are not exactly my thing.
Inspiration, Original Splinterlands Art:
Let's quickly see Drawing process:
I started by creating a quick sketch, to give me a basic idea of what the pose would be like. It is sometimes a bit tricky to get it to be dynamic and not strangely placed there. After that, I went on to create a neat outline, which I alternated with cleanliness. The next step was to create one sketch of details on top of the other, until I reached a point where I was satisfied with the outline.
Base coloring:
For the coloring I placed all the outline on a single layer, unifying it. Then I placed it on the reference layer and used the paint bucket tool. This, for the solid colors. Each color on a different layer.
Shadows and lights
For the shadows I used an airbrush, actually just to give some touches because I like heavy or well-defined shadows in my style. For the highlights, I used a layer of hard light to accentuate them.
