Mermaid Theme! Illustration of Honata

Hello everyone! How are you doing today? I hope your doing well, as ways!

Here you have the image I was teasing last time, I'm aware it's not quite Christmas themed, it's more ocean themed if anything, and I'm sorry that I took so long for this drawing—I wanted to make 100% sure that I got everything right and won't have any regrets afterwards, regrets like "the dace is too long" — "the anatomy looks too weird" or "the colors are too muddy" , that's why I took so long!

For this drawing , my insporation was from Sega and Colorful stage's Hatsune Miku: Project SEKAI. This time, the insporation pose was from "wonderland SEKAI" ver Luka Megurine, and the outfit insporation was from Nene Kusanagi. Both of these cards are abseloutley breath-taking, and available in the game or on Colorful Stage's socials.

↓ Progress of the Artwork ↓

↑ as always, I started off with a blob to get down a basic idea of a sketch and position

↑ here's the sketch, I put down some key parts where I want to put the shadow with red lines

↑ the lineart, I decided to make it very thin, so that later I can color some of the lines to make the light look brighter.

↑ Right off, I immediately started coloring and rendering right afterwards, I'm not sure why I do it, I guess im just too impatient to wait for the rendering part.

↑ Actually you could see here I had a bit of trouble shading her left shoulder, I didn't want to make it look like a watercolor painting. Anyhow, I put down basic colors for the clothes since they take up most of Honata's silhouette.

↑ the rest of the rendering, I liked how sparkly her outfit was, I also added a ring between her right fingers since it would fill up some space, I also really like how I ended up doing the lighting on the clothes

↑ background

↑ doing the background was actually the hardest part of this drawing for me, I don't really use 3d backgrounds or blender to do my backgrounds, instead I draw them myself, so, I had no idea what to do for the background. I wasn't sure if I should draw her sitting, laying down, layered, underwater, in a bed (like the original) or wherever. But I ended up doing the simplest route and just drew Honata laying on the ground of the ocean floor

What do you think? Did I do good?

As always I appreciate any kind of interactions and any support!

-Yours truly
Honata
