Hello everyone! How are you doing today? I hope your doing well, as ways!
TADAA it's Honata again!! For Valentines day! I saw this as a sort of practice for rendering, actually—I had a lot of trouble rendering / shading the hair, the skin, eyes and clothes were all fine, but the hair was so tricky to do, well not to do, but to make me satisfied with how it looks. I went back to the light part specifically because i felt like something was off. Was it the colors? The shape? Was it not up to my expectations? Did it make the anatomy look weird? I genuinley couldn't tell what budged me about it which threw me off, if I didn't know what I disliked, I would'nt know how to fix it, so I just kept experimenting with it until I felt satisfied!
Anyhoo, I figured it all out, and am happy with it. The Insporation for this Image was the new card art that came out in Project SEKAI, Mafuyu Asahina as a vampire. It came out (got released publicly) a few days ago, and I thought it looked super gorgeous and got inspired to draw Honata like this too
here is the original picture, all the credit goes to it, the colors were mainly all colorpicked from the photo, and the background too! ↓
This set was very GORGEOUS, the artists at Sega never fail to inspire me with art, honestly. At first I wasn't even sure if I wanted to draw Honata like Len, or Mafuyu, I ended up choosinf Mafuyu because it looked easier and scarier, which I like!

↓ Progress of the Artwork ↓
↑ as always, a rough, stick-figure like sketch to get an idea for the angle, distance and general pose.
↑ The sketch, you may notice how theres a sort of lighting present already, the reason I did it, is to help myself in the future, when I am rendering her. Not to mention that I think it looks cool!
↑ Lineart, nothing new here, thin lineart as ever, not colored uniquely or anything.
↑ I used one of my favorite lighting techniques here, when artists color the outside of the shadow with a nice warm color, and then blur some of the edges, but not all edges, some edges will be left unblurred. I love doing it, so I did it here!
↑ Colored the mouth and hair, you can see here I really tried to get my foundament down here, with the hair. It looks flat and stiff for now.
↑ here I colored the strawberry, and also, I fiddled more with the hair (but I wasn't satisfied yet)
↑ this whole time, I changed her hair specifically how I render it, so I won't make any more comments on it until I am done. Anyhow, I put the basic colors for her suit so that I just need to shade it. And I also colored and rendered the bow on her chest.
↑ I drew on the pattern on her suit, and shades it, using lighter colors on the edges of the shadow to make it look softer.
↑ finishing coloring and shading the whole suit.
↑ here is the final result, I love it, personally, I think it looks great, the shading, rendering, pose, Honata as a Vampire, it puts a twist on Valentines day with Halloween elements.
What do you think? Did I do good?
As always I appreciate any kind of interactions and any support!
-Yours truly
Honata
