Hello Splinterlands Summoners! The Chaos Battle Mage is a legendary neutral reward card that can be obtained from reward chests. Recently I got one BCX after end of season. In today's post, I'll do a deep dive with her stats and abilities, her role in battle and look at sample battles.

Lore

Zephyria Valtorian, the Chaos Battle Mage seems to be an anti-hero or a villain that one can sympathize with. I like stories in the same mold as her character like Kira in Death Note.

Stats and Abilities

The Chaos Battle Mage deals a huge three ranged damage at level one and has great speed of four. For defense, she has one armor and five health. She also has the Piercing ability to complement her damage potential. With these stats and abilities, she is already a useful card at level one. On the other hand, at level two and up, her offense and speed will no longer increase. Only her health stat will add up and the abilities she gains will be for sustainability in battle like Rebirth and Divine Shield. At max level she does obtain the Redemption ability which is kinda an offensive one.

Role in Battle

Due to her good ranged damage and speed stats, her role will be a damage dealer in the back while the team's tank absorbs damage from the enemy team. Her high health and speed also makes her an ideal defensive card in the back against enemy sneak attackers. As she levels up, her sustainability in battle will be increased by Divine Shield and Rebirth providing an additional layer of defense in the back line.

Battles

Battle 1: Against Quora

In this battle, the ruleset was Equalizer. I usually pick high damage dealers in this ruleset so I chose a magic team. My magic units have low health so the Equalizer ruleset solves this weakness. In the tank position I had the Quillion Legionary who is a good tank against magic and melee units because of his abilities. The rest of my team are composed of magic damage dealers except for the sixth position where I placed the Chaos Battle Mage.

My opponent's team is equally strong with Quora taking the second position. HIs team is also composed mostly of magic damage dealers with some melee attackers. At the back he has the Quillion Legionary which would have been great against sneak attackers.

Choosing the Quillion Legionary in the tank position was a lucky move as he fended of magic and melee attacks while being sustained by my healer. The rest of the team including the Chaos Battle Mage did their job in dealing damage to the opponent. I won without losing a single unit.

Battle 2:

Next battle, the rulesets were Might Makes Right, Back to Basics and Explosive Weaponry. The first rule limits the number of units that can be used. Thankfully, I have plenty of units that fit that description. Back to Basics removes their abilities so high damage from afar like ranged and magic is needed. Explosive Weaponry means I need to have a tanky unit in the second position to absorb Blast damage.

I chose the Water Splinter in this battle as Kelya's shield will provide another layer of protection and her speed means my units will attack first which is crucial in Explosive Weaponry ruleset. In the tank position I picked my favorite tank, Commander Slade. His combination of offense and defense are great. In second, I had Nerissa Tridawn who has nine health to absorb damage while dealing three magic damage. In fourth, I had the Shock Trooper who is generally bad in normal battles but without his Electrified ability, he is a great pure damage dealer with four magic. In the last I had the Chaos Battle Mage.

My opponent has a max level summoner but his units are not that great. Sure he has Grund but his offense is muted by not being able to use his Double Strike ability. His second position only has five health. Coupled with my team striking first, his tank and second unit were gone in the first round before they can even take a shot. With only four of his remaining team doing battle, he was soon lost. I won this battle again without losing any unit.
