Welcome back to my art blog! I’m Lorentm, a digital artist passionate about bringing characters to life in vibrant and expressive ways. This week, I’m participating once again in the Splinterlands art contest, and for this initiative, I decided to create a fan art of Tarsa in anime style.
Tarsa is a character full of fiery energy, both in design and personality. Her blazing red hair flows like flames, mirroring the intense heat of battle she thrives in. Her glowing golden eyes give off an aura of power and mischief, making her presence impossible to ignore. Dressed in a school uniform consisting of a white blouse, a red ribbon, and a green plaid skirt, she exudes a deceptive innocence—one that hides her true fiery nature. The way her arms are extended, as if summoning flames, adds to her dynamic and captivating essence.
Working on this piece was an exhilarating experience. I wanted to ensure that her fiery personality was reflected not only in her design but also in the atmosphere surrounding her. The glowing embers floating in the background create an enchanting yet dangerous effect, emphasizing her intense presence.

Esta semana, estoy participando nuevamente en el concurso de arte de Splinterlands, y para esta iniciativa, decidí crear un fan art de Tarsa al estilo anime.
Tarsa es un personaje lleno de energía ardiente, tanto en diseño como en personalidad. Su cabello rojo llameante fluye como fuego, reflejando el intenso calor de la batalla en la que se desenvuelve. Sus ojos dorados resplandecientes emanan un aura de poder y picardía, haciendo que su presencia sea imposible de ignorar. Vestida con un uniforme escolar compuesto por una blusa blanca, un lazo rojo y una falda a cuadros verdes, proyecta una inocencia engañosa—una que oculta su verdadera naturaleza ardiente. La forma en que extiende sus brazos, como si invocara llamas, refuerza su esencia dinámica y cautivadora.
Trabajar en esta ilustración fue una experiencia emocionante. Quería asegurarme de que su personalidad ardiente se reflejara no solo en su diseño, sino también en la atmósfera que la rodea. Las brasas brillantes flotando en el fondo crean un efecto encantador pero peligroso, resaltando su intensa presencia.
The village folk always say that Tarsa was born with fire in her blood, and that is true in many ways. Her burning rage and quick temper are amplified by her powers to summon and control fire. While her parents and teachers tried to instill patience for such dangerous magic, Tarsa had little time for that. She used her abilities to bully and threaten those that got in her way.
La gente del pueblo siempre dice que Tarsa nació con fuego en la sangre, y es cierto en muchos sentidos. Su furia ardiente y su temperamento rápido se ven amplificados por sus poderes para invocar y controlar el fuego. Aunque sus padres y maestros intentaron inculcarle paciencia para una magia tan peligrosa, Tarsa no tenía tiempo para ello. Utilizaba sus habilidades para intimidar y amenazar a los que se cruzaban en su camino.
Process / Proceso
The journey began with the sketch. I focused on capturing Tarsa’s essence through her pose and expression. Her stance had to be energetic, her face confident and slightly mischievous. I made sure to flow her hair wildly, reinforcing the idea of flickering flames.
The lineart phase was all about precision. I cleaned up the sketch, ensuring smooth and expressive lines that would enhance her dynamic pose. I paid special attention to her hair strands, making sure they had a sense of motion, and added details to her outfit to keep it visually engaging.
When it came to coloring, I chose bold and vibrant tones. Her red hair was the key element, so I used different shades to create a fiery gradient effect. Her skin was given a warm tone to match the overall color scheme, and her outfit maintained contrast with deep greens and crisp whites.
Adding shadows was crucial in bringing depth to the illustration. I placed them strategically, emphasizing her facial structure and the folds in her clothing. The darkest shadows were in her hair, making the bright highlights stand out even more.
For the highlights, I wanted to give the illustration a strong glow. Her eyes became a focal point, radiating a golden light that reflected subtly onto her cheeks and hair. I also added a soft light outlining her figure, reinforcing the magical, burning energy surrounding her.
Finally, the background completed the piece. I opted for a dark gradient transitioning from deep orange to black, enhancing the contrast. Glowing embers scattered around her hands added movement and a touch of mysticism, making the entire scene feel alive.
El proceso comenzó con el boceto. Me enfoqué en capturar la esencia de Tarsa a través de su pose y expresión. Su postura debía ser enérgica, su rostro confiado y con un toque de picardía. Me aseguré de que su cabello fluyera de manera salvaje, reforzando la idea de llamas ondulantes.
La fase del delineado se centró en la precisión. Limpié el boceto, asegurando líneas suaves y expresivas que realzaran su pose dinámica. Presté especial atención a los mechones de su cabello, asegurándome de que tuvieran un sentido de movimiento, y añadí detalles a su atuendo para mantenerlo visualmente atractivo.
Para el coloreado, elegí tonos audaces y vibrantes. Su cabello rojo era el elemento clave, por lo que utilicé diferentes matices para crear un efecto degradado de fuego. Su piel tenía un tono cálido que armonizaba con la paleta general, y su atuendo mantenía el contraste con verdes profundos y blancos nítidos.
Agregar sombras fue crucial para darle profundidad a la ilustración. Las coloqué estratégicamente, enfatizando la estructura de su rostro y los pliegues de su ropa. Las sombras más oscuras estaban en su cabello, haciendo que los reflejos brillantes resaltaran aún más.
Para los brillos, quería darle un resplandor fuerte a la ilustración. Sus ojos se convirtieron en un punto focal, irradiando una luz dorada que se reflejaba sutilmente en sus mejillas y cabello. También agregué un suave resplandor delineando su figura, reforzando la energía mágica y ardiente que la rodea.
Finalmente, el fondo completó la pieza. Opté por un degradado oscuro que transiciona de un naranja profundo a negro, realzando el contraste. Las brasas brillantes dispersas alrededor de sus manos añadieron movimiento y un toque de misticismo, haciendo que toda la escena cobrara vida.

Creating this anime-style Tarsa was a thrilling challenge. I wanted to strike a balance between her fierce power and her deceptive schoolgirl look, and I think the result captures both aspects well. The fire-like flow of her hair and the glowing embers surrounding her really bring out her energy.
