However, instead of a traditional style, I decided to portray her in a Simpsons-inspired aesthetic but infused with my own artistic approach.
Recreating Rose in this way was both a challenge and an exciting experience. I aimed to maintain her melancholic and contemplative expression while incorporating exaggerated features typical of The Simpsons, such as the large, round eyes and simplified facial structure. Unlike the traditional yellow-toned skin, I opted for a more realistic palette to honor the film’s dramatic tone. Her hair cascades down in dark strands with subtle blue highlights, adding depth and contrast. The tired yet resolute gaze, framed by darkened eyelids and arched eyebrows, conveys the weight of her journey and the uncertainty of her new beginning.

Recrear a Rose de esta manera fue tanto un desafío como una experiencia emocionante. A diferencia del tono amarillo característico de la serie, opté por una paleta de colores más realista para honrar el tono dramático de la película. The moment I chose to illustrate represents her rebirth—she is no longer the constrained aristocrat but a woman forging her own path.

Process / Proceso
To bring this fan art to life, I started with a rough sketch. I focused on capturing Rose’s somber yet determined expression, ensuring that her facial structure aligned with The Simpsons aesthetic while still retaining elements of realism. Her posture was essential—I wanted her to look weary but strong, embodying her emotional state in this crucial scene.
Once satisfied with the sketch, I moved on to the linework. I defined her features with clean, bold outlines, staying true to the signature Simpsons style while adding a touch of personal refinement. The lines around her eyes and lips were emphasized to accentuate her exhaustion and solemn demeanor.
Coloring was a crucial step in this piece. Instead of using the standard yellow skin tone, I opted for natural shades to reflect the realism of the movie. Subtle variations in color helped add dimension to her face, preventing it from looking too flat. Her lips were painted in a muted tone to enhance her somber expression.
Shading brought depth to the illustration. Soft shadows under her eyes and along her cheeks emphasized her fatigue, while the darker tones in her hair created volume. The contrast between light and shadow helped maintain the dramatic atmosphere of the scene.
To add life to the artwork, I incorporated highlights. The subtle shine in her hair strands and the faint glow on her skin contributed to a more polished, dynamic look. These highlights also helped break the monotony of dark tones, giving a sense of realism within the stylized approach.
Finally, the background played a crucial role in setting the mood. I blurred the elements behind her to focus attention on Rose, evoking the feeling of a bustling yet distant New York harbor. The cold, muted colors reinforced the sense of loneliness and transition, marking the beginning of her new life.
Para dar vida a este fan art, comencé con un boceto inicial. Me enfoqué en capturar la expresión sombría pero decidida de Rose, asegurándome de que su estructura facial se alineara con la estética de Los Simpson, pero conservando elementos de realismo. Su postura era fundamental: quería que se viera cansada pero fuerte, reflejando su estado emocional en esta escena crucial.
Una vez satisfecha con el boceto, pasé al delineado. Definí sus rasgos con líneas limpias y audaces, manteniéndome fiel al estilo característico de Los Simpson mientras añadía un toque de refinamiento personal. Las líneas alrededor de sus ojos y labios fueron enfatizadas para acentuar su agotamiento y su expresión solemne.
El coloreado fue un paso clave en esta pieza. En lugar de usar el tono de piel amarillo característico, opté por tonos naturales para reflejar el realismo de la película. Las variaciones sutiles en el color ayudaron a dar dimensión a su rostro, evitando que se viera demasiado plano. Sus labios fueron pintados en un tono apagado para resaltar su expresión melancólica.
Las sombras aportaron profundidad a la ilustración. Las suaves sombras bajo sus ojos y a lo largo de sus mejillas enfatizaron su fatiga, mientras que los tonos más oscuros en su cabello añadieron volumen. El contraste entre la luz y la sombra ayudó a mantener la atmósfera dramática de la escena.
Para dar vida a la obra, incorporé brillos. El sutil resplandor en los mechones de su cabello y el ligero brillo en su piel contribuyeron a un aspecto más pulido y dinámico. Estos brillos también ayudaron a romper la monotonía de los tonos oscuros, dando una sensación de realismo dentro del enfoque estilizado.
Finalmente, el fondo desempeñó un papel crucial en la ambientación. Difuminé los elementos detrás de ella para centrar la atención en Rose, evocando la sensación de un puerto de Nueva York bullicioso pero distante. Los colores fríos y apagados reforzaron el sentimiento de soledad y transición, marcando el comienzo de su nueva vida.

This piece was an emotional journey for me. Capturing Rose’s transformation in a new artistic style allowed me to appreciate her character even more.
