It's been a long time since i last posted here, i hope you are doing well.... This time i share with you something unusual for me, those who know me know that i run away from portraits, but i've always liked flat designs made with vectors, although being a person with an obsession for details, it costs me a little too much to make illustrations that way because i always think it lacks “something”. For a change i wanted to make a digital portrait of my sister, using a vector program, i wanted it to have that clean and crisp finish that usually has this type of art, which also look like stickers.

Hace mucho tiempo que no publicaba por acá, espero estén muy bien... Esta vez les comparto algo poco usual para mí, los que me conocen saben que le huyo a los retratos, pero siempre me ha gustado los diseños planos hechos con vectores, aunque por ser una persona con una obsesividad por los detalles, me cuesta un poco demasiado hacer las ilustraciones de esa manera porque siempre pienso que le falta "algo". Para variar quise hacerle un retrato digital a mi hermana, usando un programa vectorial, quería que tuviese ese acabado limpio y nítido que suele tener este tipo de arte, que tambien parecen stickers.

I used an old photo of my sister, at first my intention was to copy all the details just as the photo, but then i wanted to vary everything a little, in the end i modified the colors, i had no intention of doing anything realistic. Usé una foto un poco vieja de mi hermana, al principio mi intención era copiar todos los detalles tal cual la foto, pero luego quise variar un poco todo, al final modifiqué los colores, no tenía ninguna intención de hacer nada realista y le dije que le abriría los ojos jajajaja, normalmente a ella le suelen decir chinita y que no se le ven los ojos. I started to separate each element of the illustration by layers, vectorizing the whole figure, the face, neck, hair, body, ... Then, little by little i started defining details, i preferred to start with the details of the clothes, since it would take me more time in the details of the face and hair. For the bases i used the pen tool, for the details the blob brush, only for the buttons i used the 3D effect. For the lights, shadows, volume and others, both for the face and hair i chose to play with the gradient to have that softer and more delicate effect.
Empecé a separar cada elemento de la ilustración por capas, vectorizar toda la figura, la cara,el cuello, cabello,torso... Para luego, poco a poco ir definiendo detalles, preferí comenzar con los detalles de la ropa, ya que me tardaría más en los detalles del rostro y el cabello. Para las bases usé la herramienta pluma, para los detalles el pincel de manchas, sólo para los botones usé el efecto 3D. Para las luces, sombras, volumen y demás, tanto al rostro como al cabello opté por jugar con el degradé para tener ese efecto más suave y delicado.

For the final touch, i chose a pastel color that blended well with the skin of the portrait, i placed underneath a subtle shadow with a darker tone, i didn't want any dark colors, some greenish brushstrokes to decorate and the wall texture with the blend mode “multiply” only for the background.
Para el toque final, de tantos colores que me gustaban para esta ilustración me decidí por un color pastel que se fusionara bien con la piel del retrato, coloqué debajo una sombra sutil con un tono más oscuro, no quería ningún color fuerte ni negros, unas pinceladas verdosas para decorar y la textura de pared con el modo de fusión "multiplicar" solo para el fondo.
