Armando Reverón Art - Virtual Expo:
Armando Reverón (May 10, 1889 – September 17, 1954) was a Venezuelan painter and sculptor, precursor of Arte Povera and considered one of the most important of the 20th century in Latin America. While his mental health deteriorated throughout his life, his artistic abilities remained. His house by the northern coast of Venezuela housed the Reveron Museum. He is the subject of various homages in different media, and is remembered for his "muñecas" or dolls. He was a pioneer of happening, artistic assemblage, installation, intervention, textile sculpture and mobile. He was the author of more than 450 paintings, 150 drawings and dozens of objects, among which his famous rag dolls stand out.
Armando Julio Reverón Travieso (Caracas, Venezuela, 10 de mayo de 1889-Caracas, Venezuela, 18 de septiembre de 1954), fue un artista venezolano precursor del Arte Povera y considerado uno de los más importantes del siglo XX en América. Por su carácter exótico, excéntrico y primitivo, fue conocido como «El Loco de Macuto». Fue pionero del happening, del ensamblaje artístico, de la instalación, de la intervención, de la escultura textil y del móvil. Fue autor de más de 450 pinturas, 150 dibujos y decenas de objetos entre los que se destacan sus famosas muñecas de trapo.
