Today I wanna tell you about this beauty lady and the story of her birth
✨Inspiration✨
She was born, strangely, as a sketch which I left lying around for a while, finally and determined to give it life, I began to trace it to pass it to clean.
There are few of my illustrations that had a previous sketch, since I usually draw everything at once.
The inspiration for its creation lies in a couple of works by the artist Hellart and in my taste for flowers and fairies specifically, common concepts that if carried out in the right way can end up creating something unique.
This is the first fairy that I draw with her ears down, reminding me of the origin of this characteristic of the feeric beings that, not being human; were idealized with these ears, based on those of cows, horses and other animals.
The style of his face as well as some of his predecessor works pretends to go towards a realistic trend but ending up falling into surrealism, I don't have much knowledge or studies about the first so I can't do much about that part, but it's always fun to try even if at first it bothers.
Among the flowers that make up her hair you will find illustrated rose, vinca, cayenne, dandelion, zinnia, poppy, tulip, araguaney, apamate, among others.
I am used to draw thick eyebrows, but this time I drew long and narrow eyebrows, similar to those used in the 20's and 30's, since the comfortable usually becomes customary.
There were slight changes such as the pose of the body, the inclusion of hands, the omission of the little fairy next to her and other details, but those changes were pleasant for me at the level of being able to generate a greater empathy for the illustration.
In addition, I ended up using one of my favorite techniques as well as one of my least used techniques when it came to color, which made this piece that much more special.
🌷 Flower Extract 🌷
This is a practice I learned through a YouTube video on the [Aimi Draw] channel( https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC76qyHBjmFlwQWcqtO4M4rA ) to which I have been adding a little bit of my touch and also, changing certain things that I consider for the better.
Looking for brightly colored flowers which can give me some pigment I can use is always an exciting but tiring idea.
This has been my most ambitious illustration so far, as I used many types of flowers and some leaves.
Searching for them always involves a long walk, even more so on days when I intend to paint with more than one color, I have to walk several blocks to get only yellow.
Or fuchsia color
Or violet color.
Although some others will always be easier to find....
How I wish I lived near a field with multiple of these plants and no annoying neighbors who would get mad at me for cutting a few of them down, they would certainly make my illustrations faster and The pigments easy to get.
✏️ Graphite ✏️
I admit that this is one of my least favorite techniques, however, it is always interesting to see what I get out of it.
I like my illustrations to be more colorful and although I am always impressed by works made with this material, it has never been for me the best way to capture mine.
But you have to try to do different things and get out of the usual, which I managed to do (albeit halfway).
🍄 The Process 🍄
Once I finished painting the flowers on her head, after several days of searching and collecting, I started detailing, shading and highlighting with colors, which was the most entertaining part of all.
That little garden began to come to life little by little and like every Garden it needed butterflies to fly around it looking for nectar and pollinating flowers.
The wings ended up being something curious to make, since the pigment extracted from white flowers gave a peculiar golden color which, not being neat, gave a unique touch to these, after shading and painting them, the only thing left to do was to continue with the skin.
As I said before, I'm not a fan of using graphite, I had my moments of stress and despair while doing it, taking repetitive pauses and constantly erasing until I finally hit the end.
The initial feeling and the final feeling when you do something you don't like differs a lot, you can start feeling obliged and unwilling to do it and end up feeling satisfied and proud.
Which is what happened here.
With the background I gave myself the freedom to digress, after all the initial idea was not to do it, but I couldn't just end up in such a simplistic way.
I thought about watercolors, mandalas and zentangle, a simple geometric figure in the background until finally settling on my old reliable pointillism.
Though of course, I would add some color first.
After having sloppily applied several brush strokes and even sponging with the flowers themselves, I dabbed with white paint and green watercolor in dripping form in order to start drawing dots.
With the last dot drawn I was able to finish my work, I feel that the feeling that the drawing transmits is totally different from when I had no background, the vibrant colors transmit emotion while before the simple aspect gave a feeling of calm.

Son contadas mis ilustraciones que tuvieron un boceto previo, ya que generalmente dibujo todo de una vez.
La inspiración de su creación reside en un par de obras de la artista Hellart y en mi gusto por las flores y las hadas específicamente, conceptos comunes que si se llevan a cabo de la manera adecuada pueden terminar por crear algo único.
Es la primera hada que dibujo con sus orejas hacia abajo, recordándome el origen de esta característica de los seres feéricos que, al no ser humanos; eran idealizados con estas orejas, basadas en las de vacas, caballos y otros animales.
El estilo de su rostro al igual que de algunas obras antecesoras pretende ir hacia una corriente realista pero terminando por caer en el surrealismo, no tengo muchos conocimientos o estudios acerca del primero por lo que por esa parte no puedo hacer mucho, pero siempre es entretenido intentarlo aunque al principio moleste.
Entre las flores que constituyen su cabello encontrarás ilustradas rosa, vinca, cayena, diente de león, zinnia, amapola, tulipán, araguaney, apamate, entre otras.
Estoy acostumbrado a dibujar cejas gruesas, pero en esta ocasión le dibuje cejas estrechas y largas, similares a las usadas en los años 20 y 30 ya que lo cómodo suele volverse costumbre.
Hubo ligeros cambios como la pose del cuerpo, la inclusión de manos, la omisión del pequeño hada junto a ella y otros detalles, pero esos cambios fueron agradables para mi a nivel de poder generar una mayor empatía por la ilustración.
Además, termine usando una de mis técnicas favoritas así como una de mis técnicas menos usadas a la hora de darle color, cosa que hizo esta pieza mucho más especial.
🌷 Extracto de Flores 🌷
Esta es una práctica que aprendí por medio de un video de YouTube en el canal de Aimi Draw a la cual he ido añadiéndole un poco de mi toque y además,cambiando ciertas cosas que considero para mejor.
El buscar flores de vivos colores las cuales me puedan dar algún pigmento que pueda utilizar siempre es una idea emocionante aunque cansada.
Esta ha sido mi ilustración más ambiciosa hasta el momento, pues use muchos tipos de flores y algunas hojas.
Buscarlas siempre implicar una larga caminata, más aún los días en que pretendo pintar con más de un color, tengo que caminar varias cuadras para sólo obtener color amarillo.
O color fucsia
O color violeta.
Aunque algunas otras siempre serán más fáciles de hallar...
Cómo desearía vivir cerca de un campo con múltiples de estás plantas y sin molestos vecinos que se enojen por cortarles unas cuantas, sin duda harían que mis ilustraciones fueran más rápidas y Los pigmentos fáciles de conseguir.

Admito que esta es una de mis técnicas menos favoritas, sin embargo, siempre es interesante ver que consigo con ella.
Me gusta más que mis ilustraciones sean coloridas y aunque siempre quedo impresionado por obras hechas con este material, nunca ha sido para mi la mejor forma de plasmar las mías.
Pero hay que tratar de hacer cosas diferentes y salir de lo habitual, cosa que conseguí (Aunque a medias)
🍄 El Proceso 🍄
Una vez terminadas de pintar las flores de su cabeza, después de varios días de búsqueda y recolección, empecé a detallar, dar sombra y luz con colores, la cual fue la parte más entretenida de todas.
Aquel pequeño jardín comenzó a tomar vida poco a poco y como todo Jardín necesitaba mariposas que volarán a su alrededor buscando néctar y polinizando flores.
Las alas terminaron por ser algo curioso de realizar, ya que el pigmento extraído de flores blancas dieron un peculiar color dorado el cual al no ser prolijo dio un toque único a estas, tras sombrearlas y pintarlas solo quedaba proseguir con la piel.
Como dije ya anteriormente, no soy fan de usar el grafito, tuve mis momentos de estrés y desespero mientras lo hacía, tomando pausas repetitivas y borrando constantemente hasta finalmente dar con el final.
El sentimiento inicial y el sentimiento final de cuando haces algo que no te gusta difieren mucho, puedes empezar sintiéndote obligado y sin ánimos de hacerlo y terminar sintiéndote satisfecho y orgulloso.
Cosa que paso aquí.
Con el fondo me di a libertad de divagar, después de todo la idea inicial era no hacerlo, pero no podía simplemente terminar de un manera tan simplona.
Pensé en acuarelas, mandalas y zentangle, una sencilla figura geométrica al fondo hasta por fin decidirme por mi viejo confiable puntillismo.
Aunque claro, agregaría algo de color antes.
Después de haber aplicado de forma descuidada varías pínceladas e incluso haber esponjado con las propias flores, di toques con pintura blanca y acuarela verde en forma de dripping para poder comenzar a dibujar puntos.
Con el último punto dibujado pude dar por terminada mi obra, siento que la sensación que transmite el dibujo es totalmente diferente a cuanto no tenía fondo, los vibrantes colores transmiten emoción mientras que antes el aspecto sencillo daba un sentimiento de calma.
