Coming out of an artistic block with a somewhat surrealistic drawing | 🦋👁️Metamorphosis; looking beyond life 👁️🦋

Hello beautiful people! I hope you're all doing great and if you're not, you will be soon! I'm here to share a drawing I made a few weeks ago when I was going through a little artistic block and to get out of it I wanted to do something completely different from what I usually do.

Hola gente bonita! Espero estén super bien todos y si no lo están, pronto lo estarán! Vengo a compartir un dibujo que hice hace unas semanas atrás cuando estaba pasando un pequeño momento de bloqueo artístico y para salir del mismo quise hacer algo completamente diferente a lo que suelo hacer normalmente.

I don't know where the idea came from, I just know that I thought of an eye and a butterfly, resulting in this kind of surreal butterfly with eyes everywhere. I can say that it is a kind of sketch that I can develop in the future, adding improvements, details and others, but visually I liked it a lot and I wanted to share it here on my blog.

No se de donde vino la idea, solo sé que pensé en un ojo y un mariposa, quedando esta especie de mariposa surrealista con ojos por doquier. Puedo decir que es una especie de boceto que puedo desarrollar en un futuro, añadiéndole mejoras, detalles y demás, pero que visualmente me gusto mucho y quise compartirlo acá en mi blog.

For those who do not know, butterflies in some cultures or beliefs, have a meaning of constant transformation in life, by the fact of the whole process of metamorphosis they go through to become the beautiful creatures we all know. And the eye is to see, evidently. Seriously speaking, I wanted to combine that meaning that butterflies have and add eyes everywhere, symbolizing not only a personal transformation, work or other, but also focuses on the fact of always seeing new beginnings for everything, I think it is something more personal and that makes more sense to me, but that many may feel identified with it.

Para los que no saben, las mariposas en algunas culturas o creencias, tienen un significado de transformación constante en la vida, por el hecho de todo el proceso de metamorfosis que pasan hasta llegar a transformarse en las hermosas criaturas que todos conocemos. Y pues el ojo, es para ver, evidentemente. Hablando seriamente, quise combinar ese significado que tienen las mariposas y agregarle ojos por todas partes, simbolizando no solo una transformación personal, laboral o demás, sino también se enfoca al hecho de ver siempre nuevos comienzos para todo, creo que es algo mas personal y que hace mas sentido para mí, pero que puede que muchos se sientan identificados con el mismo.

Talking a little bit about the drawing process, I took the liberty of doing it at my convenience, without the need to look for references or anything. I started by making the central eye, which would be the body of the butterfly, then I made the wings and then I ended up filling the wings with more eyes. When I had the finished sketch, I saw it in detail and it reminded me of a Pokémon, I don't know, it looks like one.

Hablando un poco del proceso del dibujo, me tome la libertad de hacerlo a mi conveniencia, sin necesidad de estar buscando referencias ni nada. Comencé haciendo el ojo central, que vendría siendo el cuerpo de la mariposa, luego hice las alas y después termine llenando las alas de más ojos. Cuando tuve el boceto terminado, lo vi detalladamente y me recordó a un Pokémon, no sé, tiene toda la pinta de uno.

For the color work I didn't want to complicate my life so much and I did it as simple as possible, a little red for the eyes, some shadows in gray and line art with ink, finishing with some white details, which would be the shines in certain areas of the drawing and that's it. A simple drawing, but with a very personal message for me. Sometimes a simple and easy drawing can be more representative for a person, than one with hours and hours of work and details everywhere. Sometimes simplicity wins over everything.

Para el trabajo de color no quise complicarme tanto la vida por eso y lo hice lo más simple posible, un poco de rojo para los ojos, algunas sombras en gris y line art con tinta, finalizando con algunos detalles de blanco, que serian los brillos en ciertas zonas del dibujo y listo. Un dibujo simple, pero con un mensaje muy personal para mi. A veces un simple y sencillo dibujo puede ser más representativo para una persona, que uno con horas y horas de trabajos y detalles por doquier. A veces la sencillez le gana a todo.
