Being in peace with yourself, of course, does not mean that life is totaly free from turmoil or hardship, but it will likely help to remain grounded and stable in difficult times.
My picture, which I dare to carry unveiled through the Hive today, is about inner peace.

Mit sich in Frieden zu sein bedeutet natürlich nicht, dass das eigene Leben gänzlich frei von Turbulenzen oder Nöten ist, aber es kann dazu beitragen, in schwierigen Zeiten geerdet und stabil zu bleiben.
Über die innere Ruhe handelt mein Bild, das ich heute wagen möchte, unverhüllt durchs Hive zu tragen.

About my picture

This year and last year, more or less difficult challenges have kept coming into my life. They always came out of the blue, I couldn't have prevented them and they weren't easy to deal with.
Several of my family members fell seriously ill one after the other, one died and, as if that wasn't already enough, there were also events on top that didn't necessarily make such situations any easier.
As things happen, this is not the first time in my life that I have experienced difficult phases. It was just a very long time ago when misfortune approached me with similar severity and frequency.
However, I was surprised at how focussed I am now, at almost 50 years of age, and how able I was to stand firm in such times and still have the strength to be a rock for my loved ones. Life experience and an inner peace with myself were the sources of my strength and focus in the recent month.
When I found some peace and quiet this week and was then able to reflect on recent events and myself during such events in my earlier days, I realised this very clearly.
Getting older also seems to have its advantages.

My picture illustrates this inner peace.

Über mein Bild

In diesem und im letzten Jahr kamen immer wieder, mehr oder minder schwierige Prüfungen in mein Leben. Sie kamen stets aus heiterem Himmel, ich hätte sie nicht verhindern können, und sie waren alle nicht so einfach zu bewältigen.
Es sind einige meiner Familienmitglieder nacheinander schwer erkrankt, jemand ist gestorben und als wenn das nicht schon genug wäre, kamen noch Ereignisse hinzu, die solche Situationen nicht unbedingt einfacher machen.
Wie das nun mal so ist, erlebte ich natürlich nicht das erste Mal in meinem Leben schwierigere Zeiten. Es ist nur schon sehr lange her, als das Unglück sich mir in ähnlicher Härte und Häufigkeit näherte.
Ich war jedoch überrascht, wie fokussiert und mittlerweile, mit bald 50 Lebensjahren, in solchen Zeiten bleiben kann und dabei noch die Kraft besitze, für meine Lieben ein Fels in der Brandung zu sein. Lebenserfahrung und ein innerer Frieden mit mir selbst, waren die Quelle meiner Kraft und Fokussiertheit.
Als ich vor Kurzem endlich einmal zur Ruhe kam und über die jüngsten Ereignisse und mich selbst auch während derartiger früherer Ereignisse reflektieren konnte, wurde mir das sehr bewusst.
Das Älterwerden scheint auch seine Vorteile zu haben.

Mein Bild illustriert diesen inneren Frieden.

Creation and materials

I created the entire image in the open source programs Blender and GIMP. In Blender I created the scene and then made the final touches in GIMP.
No non-free materials were used in the process.

Erstellung und Materialien

Ich habe das Bild komplett in den open source Programmen Blender und GIMP gemacht. In Blender habe ich die Szene erstellt und anschließend in GIMP die letzten Schliffe gemacht.
Dabei kamen keinerlei unfreie Materialien zum Einsatz.
