Greetings dear readers!
We are once again sharing with you a digital illustration for the weekly splinterlands contest.
This time we were inspired by the letter "Captain Katie".
I'm still not used to the Tool sai 2 program, but it has some very interesting tools to offer.
originally this was going to be my submission for week 245 but I've had some personal problems that I think I'm over, now I can dedicate full time to illustrations.
well! let's see how this chaotic and fun process went!

Saludos apreciados lectores!
Estamos unas vez mas compartiendo con ustedes una ilustración digital para el concurso semanal de splinterlands.
En esta oportunidad nos inspiramos en la carta de "Captain Katie".
Aun no termino de acostumbrarme al programa Tool sai 2, pero tiene herramientas muy interesantes que ofrecer.
originalmente esta iba a ser mi entrega para la semana 245 pero eh tenido problemas personales de los cuales creo que ya sali, ahora puedo dedicarle tiempo completo a las ilustraciones.
bien! veamos como fue este caótico y divertido proceso

Creative process

We started with the basic shape of the character, I chose a frontal portrait pose, at this point I didn't plan to add the hand only the face and play with the shadows.

Iniciamos con la forma basica del personaje, elegi una pose frontal tipo retrato, en este punto no tenia pensado agregar la mano solo el rostro y jugar con las sombras.

On the same layer we are giving more details to the character, I like to have the reference visible to make it as similar as possible.

Sobre la misma capa vamos dando mas detalles al personaje, me gusta tener visible la referencia para hacerlo lo mas parecido posible.

After this I felt that the character was missing something else and that's when I thought of adding his hand and the magic effect as it appears in the reference, now he had a much closer light source.

Despues de esto sentia que le faltaba algo mas al personaje y fue cuando pensé en agregar su mano y el efecto de magia tal como aparece en la referencia, ahora tenia una fuente de luz mucho mas cercana.

When making the lineart, this time I made the lines even thinner than usual, as well as I wanted to give it some details using the same lines.

momento de hacer el lineart, en esta oportunidad hice unas lineas aun mas delgadas de lo habitual, asi como tambien quise darle algunos detalles usando las mismas lineas.

For the color I took this small image as a reference, but I lowered the saturation of the sample because I like low saturated tones.

Para el color tome como referencia esta pequeña imagen, pero le baje la saturación a la muestra ya que me gustan los tonos poco saturados.

This step is the same in each layer, only the color varies, for this reason it is not necessary to explain it in detail.

Aplicamos todo el color base. este paso es igual en cada capa solo varia el color, por este motivo esta de mas explicarlo a detalle.

Time to apply the shadows, for this we take into account where our light source comes from.

Momento de aplicar las sombras, para ello tenemos en cuenta de donde viene nuestra fuente de luz.

After applying the shadows it's time to soften and then retouch, on some I was able to use different textures to save the work of adding them manually.

Despues de aplicar las sombras es el momento de suavizar y luego retocar, en algunas capaz use diferentes texturas para ahorrar el trabajo de agregarlas manualmente.

For the hair we do something similar, we apply wide shadows without much detail and then we move on to something more detailed.

Para el cabello hacemos algo similar aplicamos sombras amplias sin mucho detalle y luego pasamos a algo mas detallado.

my favorite part of the drawing I wanted the character to integrate well with the background for this I darkened the parts that do not interact much with the light source.

mi parte favorita del dibujo queria que el personaje se integrara bien con el fondo para esto oscurecí las partes que no interactúan mucho con la fuente de luz

The eyes are the most important part of the drawing, curiously I wanted one of the eyes to be a bit smaller as if the light source was bothering the eyes. I'm not sure if you understand that result... but ok.

Los ojos la parte mas importante del dibujo, curiosamente quise que uno de los ojos fuera un tanto mas pequeño como si la fuente de luz le molestara en la vista. no estoy seguro si se entiende ese resultado... pero bueno.

Oh how I miss the clip studio I still don't know how to do the effects well in this other program but... here we simulate the light source and magic of the hand.

Oh como extraño el clip studio aun no se como hacer bien los efectos en este otro programa pero... aqui simulamos la fuente de luz y magia de la mano.

Finally here we can appreciate all the work summarized in a small animation.
The program used was Pain Tool Sai 2 and a huion tablet.

Genial!!
La verdad el fondo negro resalta los colores del resultado.
Algo del rostro le da unos toques de que ella es de desendencia latina
tanto tono de piel como rasgos marcados.

Puede que usar lineas muy finas le haga perder centrarse las pestañas
pero son los colores resaltando da un buen enfoque a donde ver.

Me gusta bastante este proceso
porque tambien uso el Sai, asi que ver tus pasos
me ayuda bastante a aplicar los mismos conceptos con los iconos
