We have some lightpaingting photography + photoshop with my kaleidacat action and then decimat8 to various tasteful degree to deliver interesting take on some lightpaintZ.... enter the etheral dimentions of the kaleidoscope matrix depth dive drone, it's fun to experiment around with finding the right composition. It takes a bit of time to run the action (my computer is pretty old) but nonetheless when you find the right combo of photo as well as the right sequence of mirror operations to create the kaleidoscope it becomes a little bit interesting when it 'works.' Then I export those pictures and load them one by one into an app and glitch them slightly, which is a bit of a hit and miss affair at times. While the app can produce some interesting results at times, it's a bit random in what it comes up with. It's capable of comepletely destroying your picture into something unrecognizable or sometimes what it's doing is so subtle it's hard to see. And while there is a degree of repeatability to some extent of being able to save your own presets and whatnot, but controlling the parameters is not left to you, you don't even know them it's just the program that randomly assigns them and you us a button to get a different set of parameters. It's called decim8 it's not very expensive of an app and often I find it's not really that amazing in what it makes but from time to time I've come up with some cool pics out of it. It's nice that it can output full size JPGS so at least there is that as well but it also takes a while to process and save the pics depending on what sort of effect layer(s) you have selected as well as the speed of your mobile device. I also bought photomosh pro, but that was mostly for video since I keep wishing to get back into that. I have yet to try photomosh for still images, but it can do that too and might be fun to play around with. Maybe for next post. It'd be nice to have some different workflow options, sometimes the old getting pics onto and off of ipad plus messing with them in the apps is it's own weird world sometimes, like even how the app is unforgiving with zero undo functionality. 😜 😎 But hey if the end result is worth it it's worth it, I'd have to see how photomosh stacks up with decim8. Additionally, decim8 if it wasn't clear already can be a bit over the top, but nonetheless worthwhile if you're into that sort of stuff. And lastly, speaking of tools, I was getting into blender a bit... which is something I've been procrastinating on for a while so it was good to get the ball rolling a bit with that. Still a long way to go though but looks like a promising program as well! 😀
The glitch in this series from light to fairly extreme to bordering on trolling, at least I think it's a bit much (the last one) but hey maybe someone will like it. I don't want to offend my audience too much so for the most part I tried to keep the glitching light and tasteful but if there was something interesting going on I went with that too. It's a bit of an iterative process but it's fun. One of the problems with the whole 'random generation' nature is in the quest for 'good looking visuals' you are clicking along and inevitably click away from something really sweet, which is why I was thinking an undo would be awesome. But at the very foundation, taking or finding good 'base' pictures for kaleidoscoping is of course key. While most any picture will look interesting, some are certainly better adept at the effect and it's often interesting to see what sort of creatures and faces and what have you emerge during the process. 😝 hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by as always 🤠
