Human Earth 2666

Inspired by the speculative evolution works of Nemo Ramjet "All Tomorrows", I found myself drawn into creating something of my own.
I began to wonder—what if, in this entire universe, there existed only one intelligent species: humans?
What if they were scattered across countless planets, evolving independently, never making contact with one another?
Each of them still called themselves "human," yet their appearances, behaviors, and characteristics varied drastically, shaped entirely by the unique conditions of the worlds they called home.

Of course, this idea is still in its infancy, especially considering it’s been a long time since I last drew anything. I’m currently reacquainting myself with my digital art tools, and this time, I decided to experiment with color—stepping away from the usual monotone black and white.

So here’s the premise so far;

Only Human or All Human

In this universe, there are no aliens—only humans.
No other form of intelligent life exists. Just us.
But “we” are everywhere—mutated, transformed, and evolved across planets so distant and strange they don’t even have names yet.

Humans exist within wildly diverse ecosystems.
They are born with physical traits adapted to the planets they inhabit.
Still, they all call themselves human.

But what happened?
Who scattered them across the stars?
Was this a cosmic experiment?
Or… was it all a terrible mistake?

Human of Earth

On Earth, the story picks up in the year 2666, according to their calendar.
By then, humanity had turned against itself.
The planet was reduced to rubble, ravaged by nuclear explosions and every kind of destruction imaginable.
The survivors—those few left behind—were forced to adapt to the ruins of their own making.

They wore gas masks to breathe through the toxic air.
They modified their bodies with machines—implanting chips in their skulls, replacing their eyes with artificial ones, bonding exoskeletons to their flesh, and more.

Their physical appearance had shifted far from what we would call “classic” human.
Their spines curved with a permanent hunch—an evolutionary response to generations of ducking from endless blasts.
Their skin turned pale from a sunless world, shrouded in ash and chemical haze.

Communication was nearly instant.
With neural chips implanted in their heads, thoughts could be transmitted, decisions made in milliseconds.
But such enhancements came at a cost—some suffered from severe psychological instability.

In this hellish landscape, humanity’s remnants clung to life by forming small groups and sheltering in bunkers.
Governments had long since collapsed.
There was no order—only survival.

In my next post, I want to share a complete look at Earth’s remaining humans—their appearance, their tools, their way of life.

It’s been incredibly fun diving into this speculative universe—imagining how humans might evolve under alien laws of nature.
I’ve already sketched out several human variants, and I can’t wait to bring them to here.

Here are the steps :

This is only the beginning.
A fragmented universe of humans awaits—each one a reflection of the world that shaped them.
I’m excited to keep exploring, imagining, and drawing the forms humanity might take when scattered across the stars.

Love this, I never heard of Nemo Ramjet and just looked him up and his art is super cool :)

You should read All Tomorrows, it's cool and there's a superpowered evil alien that changes humans and in the end loses after humans evolve.

I've checked out your older creations, which I think are very good and inspiring!

Hi @mandragora88, thank you for visiting and your kind words ;)

It reminds me of Salvador Dalì.

at first glance similar but without a mustache, when I took my face for this portrait, it turned out that I looked like Dali 😅
