― Allen Ginsberg, Howl and Other Poems
EVOLVED on Nightcafe AI with the model Fluently XL Lightning from model Dreamshaper XL Lightning, engaging the 'Revised Prompt' feature. The prompt I used stems from a line by Allen Ginsberg about Carl Solomon. @Latharek sort of indirectly put me up to this - a posting made me look up whatever I could find out (and refresh my memory) about Allen Ginsberg.
Check it out here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howl_(poem) and here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Solomon
Text Prompt - combining two different prompts into one:
Who threw potato salad at CCNY lecturers on Dadaism and subsequently presented themselves on the granite steps of the madhouse with shaven heads and harlequin speech of suicide, demanding instantaneous lobotomy. Allan Ginsberg and Carl Solomon A cryptid Siberian Aardvark under the influence of ayahuasca and funny bone extract playing with magic creatures on the beach of Bogomil's Island. A Surreal Fantasy Painting by the Mystic Otto Rapp inspired by Ernst Fuchs, H.R. Giger and Beksinski, oil paint on canvas, detailed strokes, psychedelic collage, cryptid taxidermy in Bogomils Universe, imperial colors
Revised Prompt of the above, created with AI:
A bespectacled, suit-clad figure, shaven-headed, stands atop granite steps, surrounded by fragments of potato salad, while lecturers on Dadaism look on in dismay. The figure's eyes gleam with a manic intensity as they proclaim a harlequin's mad philosophy, demanding a lobotomy. Allan Ginsberg and Carl Solomon watch, fascinated, from the sidelines. In the background, a cryptid Siberian Aardvark, fueled by ayahuasca and funny bone extract, cavorts with iridescent, ethereal creatures on the shores of Bogomil's Island, a realm of mystic wonder. Inspired by the masters of Surrealism - Ernst Fuchs' mystical dreamscapes, H.R. Giger's biomechanical nightmares, and Beksinski's eerie, fantastical realms - this oil on canvas painting blends detailed, realistic strokes with psychedelic collage elements and the unsettling, yet mesmerizing, presence of cryptid taxidermy, all set against the rich, imperial colors of a mystical universe.
On the above, I added another prompt to the Ginsberg quote, a prompt I had used before and was unrelated to Ginsberg, but for the twists of my surreal mind. After combining the prompts, I ran them with 'Enhanced Prompt', and it turned out like this:
A chaotic scene unfolds on the granite steps of a 19th-century madhouse, inspired by the mystic Otto Rapp's surrealist fantasies, under the influence of ayahuasca and funny bone extract. Allan Ginsberg and Carl Solomon, two proponents of the Beat Generation, stand with shaven heads, donning harlequin attire, their speech a jarring mix of poetry and madness. They demand instantaneous lobotomy, as if to free themselves from the constraints of reality. In the background, CCNY lecturers, bespattered with potato salad, lecture on the principles of Dadaism, their words lost amidst the chaos. The scene is set against a backdrop of cryptid taxidermy, reminiscent of the Bogomils Universe, with imperial colors dominating the palette. The style is reminiscent of Ernst Fuchs's vivid, dreamlike landscapes, H.R. Giger's biomechanical surrealism, and Beksinski's haunting, mystical visions. The painting is rendered in oil on canvas, with detailed, expressive strokes and psychedelic collage elements, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.
Now this seems to be a bit over the top, so I toned it down using other models and setting a lower prompt weight, which resulted in the images preceding my title image ADVOCATE FOR SELF-DIRECTED LOBOTOMY:
The description on Deep Dream:
A woman in a blue dress stands thoughtfully in a dimly lit, cluttered room filled with scattered toys and leaves, contrasting the warmth of the lamp with the chaos around her.
Actually, this is from a 'pilfered' prompt I got from a conversation in the 'Fine Art' group on Nightcafe. What is shown here is completely different from the image done on NC. It is also different from several others I ran with different models on Deep Dream.
The prompt was a short and simple one, it was also using a line from Ginsberg's Howl poetry collection:
"fine art photography psychodrama tableau (by Gregory Crewdson:3) who scribbled all night rocking and rolling over lofty incantations which in the yellow morning were stanzas of gibberish"
Running the same short prompt directly on Nightcafe (several tries - this is the best one):It seems the 'yellow morning' figured dominantly in these, be that Deep Dream or Nightcafe. AI on either platforms did not seem to zoom in on the 'insanity' scribbling that Ginsberg alluded to.
So I had to help it along by adding my own 'whimsical' insane lines to the prompt in these iterations.
to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night, Allan Ginsberg, surrealism, fantasy art, poetry, imperial colors
This one, also with Dreamshaper XL Lightning, was the culmination of several tries:One of the previous stages of this was this one - it had sort of a steampunk feel to it, thought it was not prompted:
I might add that the user who added this comment is a psychiatrist who had initially posted about Ginsberg, which inspired me in the first place to dig into the deepest recesses of my brain to find related memories that date back decades to my youth in the sixties.
Another Image using a Ginsberg quote as the prompt:The model Flux Schnell, aided by 'Revised Prompt' returned a photoportrait of a 'Potatosalad Slinger':The Revised Prompt for this was:
A frenzied scene of surrealist protest, reminiscent of the works of Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, and Hannah Hoch, where the boundaries of reality are pushed to the limits. A young man, shaven-headed and dressed in a harlequin-patterned shirt, stands on the granite steps of a 19th-century asylum, his eyes wild with a mix of desperation and defiance. In one hand, he clutches a wooden spoon, remnants of potato salad still clinging to it, while the other hand gesticulates wildly as he delivers a passionate, if slightly unhinged, speech about the need for instantaneous lobotomy. Behind him, the imposing stone facade of the madhouse looms, its windows like empty eyes staring back. The atmosphere is one of chaotic energy, with hints of societal rebellion and anti-establishment fervor, as if the protagonist has internalized the Dadaist spirit and is now taking it to its illogical extremes. The colors are muted, with flashes of bold red and yellow, evoking the sense of a dream on the verge of turning into a nightmare.
... the unhinged speech about the need for instanteneous lobotomy ...
I hope you enjoyed my trip from my youthful beginnings as a Surrealist (which was rooted in Dadaism, that also inspired the beat generation and Allen Ginsberg) to my use of AI in bringing this out in some twisted new way. It is always my aim to use AI in a way that challenges the various Artificial Intelligence Models, and rise above the 90%+ crowd that is satisfied with pretty pictures.
