MMM as a practice today I've decided to make a kind of self-portrait(?)
Just to make it clear, this is something I hate, it's not my comfort zone, I think it's a waste of time drawing semi-realism, because I honestly feel it's not funny at all, however, I've decided to learn this technique, to see if after learning it, I still think it's a waste of time or as we say here, an egg without salt.
Without further ado, join me in this kind of agonizing adventure and let's see if I actually have my own style to make portraits, if I find it, or if I develop one:
Disclaimer: this is not a tutorial, this is literally a fuck around and find out.
This is the image I chose to use as a reference, it's a picture of me, and already, a pretty basic photo.
I started with the lineart, first I thought I wanted to make all the clothes and blabla bla bla but honestly, I thought halfway through the job that it would be too boring and too nromal (?).
Here I put a base color on which I would work my highlights and shadows.
I try to somewhat follow my skin tones, which range from pink to orange.
oooook, at this point I thought to myself: ok ... I look like me? yes a little bit... but still it seems to me that it's not what I wanted, and yes... again I found myself in "I hate semi-realism and realism in general" so I felt the need to change it.
and that's what I did, I changed the color palette, I changed it to one that looked more hmmm dreamy.
Looks really nice though :D
