Hello Everyone
I will be joining this week's art contest of Splinterlands, and this time, I've decided to draw a portrait of the Queen of Crows. I find it really hard to draw another while having the Inktober entries, but glad I was able to finish this one today.
ART PROCESS
Sketch
Clean sketch and Base Color
Adding the light and the darkest shadows
Then I started rendering them by softening the edges with smudge. This was the time when I kept mumbling to myself to trust the process as it looked weirder and weirder. After the smudging, I go back to some parts to paint them back as hard edges to avoid making them look muddy. Then I added the highlights on the skin using the same method; this is my favorite part of the process because it magically makes my portrait pop✨ with just those little hints of lights. I then painted the eyes and hair, I decided to paint the eyes in color to make her more appealing.
FINAL RESULT✨✨
Thank you for your time
Happy Weekend

Awesome values and shading work on this one!
Yep! The rendering is pretty good.
Bro are you not curating spl posts these days? What happened?
I just judge the art contest... i don't curate anymore. I do curate and manage Alien Art and Photography Lovers communities.
I see. Must be busy since the kid is growing up :)
Oh yes.... he is crazy like his dad! hahaha
Thank you bro
Thank you @castleberry I was having hard time shading the nose because it would blend to its cast shadow I have repainted that part 3 times before I was satisfied and finally give clarity on it
I think the angle was throwing you off a bit. You could see to much of the underside of the tip of the nose with the nostrils which makes shading the bridge more difficult. I put red line on the lip and nose to show how the triangles would line up for the perspective.
Noses are one of the hardest things to get right. I had a teacher that told me noses have no lines and there is only value/shading to pronounce the shape along with highlights. This helped me understand the structure of the nose and how to look at it differently.
I don't know if any of this helps but I think you did a great job. Keep on Keepin on my friend.
The eyes are beautiful 😍
