I hope you are having a spectacular day. I wanted to share with you this post that was meant for last week, for the #Splinterlands art contest for week number 234. But to be honest, when I reviewed it in the early hours of Saturday morning, it didn't convince me much. So I decided to leave it for this week and have more time to make it better. ๐ซฒ๐ป๐๐ซฑ๐ป
I'm a bit of a "manic" in that sense ๐ค๐ฎโ๐จ๐คซ, if I don't like something, I prefer to leave it for later and have more opportunities to improve it. The truth is, I don't like to come to this community and post anything just for the money. I'm the kind of person that if I'm going to get paid for "something," that "something" has to be decent, or better said, as I usually say myself, "something worthwhile!!!" ๐ค๐ป๐
Anyway, after leaving my work for this week and making more effort, I could clearly see what wasn't working and worked on it to give my illustration another chance.

This time, I returned to my favorite Splinter, since I had it a little abandoned because all these weeks my participations were of different Splinters, but the one of death, "which is my favorite", I had not done anything until this week. โ ๏ธโ ๏ธโ ๏ธ

Ahhh, and as always, I made some changes to my entry for the contest, but don't worry, "nothing bad", I think!!! I'll tell you a little more about it below in the process images.
But before that, I want to share a little bit about the history of the character I chose for this week. Here it is. Hopefully someday I will have this card, I would love it!!! ๐ซถ๐ป๐ซถ๐ป๐ซถ๐ป
Born Marissa Maewyn in a small village on the outskirts of Lyveria on the continent of Anumun, the Queen of Crows has had the power to speak to and control crows even as a child. Others ostracized her for her unusual ability, and she grew up an outcast. Her crows were her only companions, and she used them to defend herself against those who sought to harm her because they feared what she could do.
She spent her adolescence in study of the dark arts and became enthralled with Alturia Dragonforth, the Dark Enchantress and Lagfaelโs Queen, who originally hailed from nearby Lyveria. In time, Marissaโs enthrallment turned to envy. She fantasized about journeying to Mortis, replacing the Dark Enchantress, and joining with the Lord of Darkness in an unholy union.
As her power grew, so did the townsfolkโs fear, and one night, a mob of them broke into her home. Her parents were killed defending her, and in her rage and sorrow, Marissa commanded her crows to slay those responsible... along with everyone else in the village.
Afterward, she traveled across the seas to Beluroc on the continent of Mortis. Here, she consolidates her power and aids the Dark Eternals in their quest to bring the world to the one true darkness. She works diligently and quietly, all the while attempting to gain the attention and favor of the Lord of Darkness and realize her ambition of ruling at his side.

The beginning of this illustration was a simple sketch, but with some gray I added lights and shadows to give volume to the character.

I started to complete the character's clothes adding a witch's hat and some color using an overlay layer. I wanted the girl to be quite light skinned to contrast with the environment and I remembered several illustrators and concept artists that I love. ๐๐๐

I kept adding some details, I changed the position of the character a bit because I felt she was a bit crooked. Also, I added some crows that would be the main characters this time. ๐ฆโโฌ๐ฆโโฌ๐ฆโโฌ

The crows looked a little better, but for the background I didn't have something as detailed. As time was progressing, I decided to put little detail on her clothes. At first, the book looked like a phone book ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ, but that would change later on!!!

After a while, I made a change in the tone of the colors because I didn't want the illustration to be too blue. I decided that the crows should come out from the girl's hair and I changed the hat a bit, I thought it looked better that way than the previous one. Or not? ๐ค๐คญ๐

Finally, I felt that the evil touch of this girl was missing. She couldn't be a witch with no power, that would be too boring!!! So I made some adjustments to the clothing and body lights to give her a little more power and mystery. No one will want to mess with this witch!!! ๐๐๐

SPEED PAINTING
From the beginning, I had a clear idea of what I wanted this illustration of the Queen Of Crows witch to look like. A powerful and mysterious image that would convey her personality. But I had to make several tests and adjustments until I got the result I was looking for. And in my opinion, it was worth all the effort!!! ๐ค๐ป๐
Now this little witch is ready to cast a spell on anyone who crosses her path. You won't want to mess with her!!! ๐ฑ

Really nice touch with the feathery cloth design. It matches her powers and gives off the queen of crows vibe. The idea to draw the crows coming out of her hat is brilliant.
