Portrait of Nana Amonu X, Omanhene of Anomabu, Ghana
Anamabu lies some fifteen-mileage to the east of Cape Coast (Ghana). It has been proposed that its identity, which are given various hexes, may be rooted in a reference to the rock on which pigeons settle right next to the coast. (‘Obonoma’ – ‘Rock of Birds''). Modi operandi in spelling has changed and various forms are lived through, and ‘Anomabu’ is increasingly used.
In a plurality, the Omanhene (Plural; Amanhene) is the title referring to the supreme traditional ruler ('king') in a region of a larger town in the Akan nations of Ghana.
The Omanhene is the pivotal character and establishment of the nation. He has no function in the Akan nations of Ghana but sways an enormous effect on the people that embodies it.
The Akan Omanhene are major men of property and are the heads of every basic social organization. They consign the land they ideally hold in trust to caretakers.
They are ordained by Ohemma (queen mothers) that are often but not necessarily their surrogate mother but it's always a direct genealogical relative.
In the Akan nation, hereditary succession has an inclination of a matrilineal paradigm. For the records, not all Akan nations have the Omanhene as the monarch. The Ashanti, for instance, have Asantehene ( or 'Emperor') as a supreme ruler who is superior to the Omanhenes of Asante.
