I think using SPS for a Splinterlands DAO would have been a great direction to let the players dictate the future of the gameplay

No. Introducing a governance token might complicate the game mechanics, making it harder for new players to understand and engage.

For Splinterlands, no. There are already three tokens in the game and another one is unnecessary.
