Voting to name the smallest HBIT unit was so close, we need to have a head-to-head run off between the top two.
Please vote here: bitoshi or quark?
Voting ends Saturday, 7/17/2022.
Don't like to use Google Forms? You can vote by comment on this page. Just comment with "bitoshi" or "quark". I'll manually add in your vote.
Explanation and notes
This was very unexpected. The plan was to announce the winner today, but, using the "voting power" formula, the top two vote-getters came out 419.6782609 to 418.3304322. That's very close.
I contacted both of the Hive users who'd suggested the top two names (@noctury suggested "quark" and @arthursiq5 suggested "bitoshi"). Without letting them know who had the 419 and who had 418, I asked whether they'd prefer to just go with the 419 as the winner, or to have a run off. Both saw benefits in either route. Both said either option is fine with them. Being that close, I felt a head to head run off would be appropriate. Both noctury and arthursiq5 were gracious and said they were fine to have run off.
Notes:
- Although I want to wrap this up, I thought we need a few days open for voting. Voting will be open through Saturday, July 17.
- This time we'll just use straight votes, not voting power. It's just simpler. Anyone on Hive can vote.
- Also, if you don't want to use the Google Form, this time you can simply vote in the comments on this page. I'll manually add your vote alongside those submitted on the Form.
- Since it was so close, I decided to award the prize money (half the HBIT in the @hivebits.mine holdings) to the winner, but to also match that to the second-place person (I'll send it from my personal HBIT holdings). This way, they'll both get the prize HBIT.
If you're listed below, you suggested a name and I thought you may be interested in voting (apologies for all the tagging).
