It's late on Thursday night and I'm writing this after a long day of fun and good times with my nephew. I'm feeling a little worn out, but happy, as we've had a couple of really great days together. I thought I'd combine a few of the things we've done over the last couple days into one post so that you folks don't get bored with post after post of nephew stuff.
My nephew is one of those kids who likes to get involved with what the adults are doing; he's keen to help and likes to stay active. One of the things he mentioned leading up to coming here was helping me with my gardening and I promised he could do so. Of course, part of him helping meant he would earn a reward and he chose to take his in three ways.
Above you can see his tomato reward picked right from my garden by his own little hands - He ate quite a few right off the vine but we managed to get many more.
Here in the image above you can see his stash of strawberries, his second reward, also from my garden. There were a lot more strawberries but we saved some to have with ice cream later - these in the image he ate almost as soon as I took this picture...the tomatoes didn't last long either although I managed to save some for our salad that night.
His third reward for helping me was free-rein with the garden hose. The plants certainly got a good soaking that night and I, somehow, managed to get soaked as well...lucky the weather is hot. He had fun chasing me with the house though, and so did I.
Later when I asked if he liked helping me in the garden he said, it's berry fun uncle. Cute huh? He doesn't say very and replaces the V with a B. He'll grow out of it eventually, but it's so cute and funny, so I hope not too soon.
The previous day I took him over to my other house, the one I don't live in, and he got to play with some of my Lego there.
I keep a few over there that I don't have room for here and he enjoyed playing with my car carrier truck, Mack Anthem container truck, my Landrover Defender, Camaro, drag car and the Extreme 4x4 Off-Roader which is a remote control Lego Technic car - That was his favourite. You can see him pictured below surrounded by them all.
After that, it was time for some music so we played the piano a little. He hasn't played before, but I taught him a couple things which he picked up really quickly. He plays the violin, has been learning for almost a year now, and...well, it's terrible to listen too, but it's given him a basic grounding in music and he picked up the piano pretty quickly. I endure the violin because he is so funny to watch when playing - He takes it very seriously.
The cool thing with my nephew is that he is very well-rounded, meaning that he will try his hand at anything; he's just as comfortable playing outside, camping, biking, kayaking, sailing, fishing and all, as he is reading, building Lego, painting or playing his violin and doing more academic things.
He's a really great kid and I like how his parents are exposing him to so many different things; it's how I was brought up and whilst not all of those things continued on, I got to try them and decided what I wanted to focus on.
Today was all about the Zoo and we spent almost the entire day there, whish is why I'm so worn out. I've not gone through the photos yet and most of them have his face in them so I'll have to work out what I can show here on the blockchain. I'll do that at some later date I guess and share a few from the day.
For now...well, it's time for bed I think...my nephew is already asleep, (he's so peaceful when asleep), and I should be myself.
Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default; tomorrow isn't promised so be humble and kind - galenkp

Your Nephew is lucky to have you as a uncle. It's really important to let kids explore the world around them and you're doing a great job there.
My youngest used to say " mama I love you too much" instead of so much, I love how they communicate with us.
Didn't know you played the piano, the middle daughter just recently started.
Enjoy the rest of your time together xxxx
Some of the things they say are funny and whilst incorrect one doesn't want them to stop.
Yeah, I wrote a post on it last week, I have played the piano since the age of four and a half.
Wow, fun was expressed to the fullest Galen, the last of the 3 rewards of the hose with the water and the chase to get everyone wet is super fun, I did it a lot when my daughters were like your nephew. I think I will take it up again as soon as possible, of course, I will be careful not to slip I'm not 20 years old anymore hahahahaha
Yes, slipping and falling isn't much fun, best to be careful.
It seems you are enjoying those moments very much and in my opinion enjoying some time with such kind of kid is very good. It's because their little little thing makes us smile and remind us about our childhood times.
I also love to spend time with such kind of kids.
They're enjoyable to have around and do and say some funny things. I'm having a really nice time with him.
All those Legos probably made him bounce off the walls! They are super cool individually, now there are so many of them! Over the moon, I am sure!
I like your prizes. What great eating habits this guy has! I love it! Wait! Did he get to chase you around with a hose? :)
Something tells me that he will be playing the piano anytime soon. What a great childhood, being introduced to different things like that.
Dude, you rule!!
He's not a bad eater, that's for sure...he doesn't really stop either; one meal tends to roll into the next. 🤣
Today, after playing LEGO's, he helped me make some ice blocks on sticks out of orange juice and a few from apple juice. I'm not sure how they'll turn out but he had fun and he can't wait to eat them. Every ten minutes since, he's asked me if they're ready. My freezer seems not to work fast enough for him.
A bit later he has to practise some violin and then we're going to one of the cities oldest and most famous pancake places and for a walk around the river that flows through the city. That light it all up really nicely so it'll be visually impressive.
Just another day of nephew stuff.
Sounds fun!! Those are called popsicles! Ice blocks on aticks. The orange juice are yummy, I don't think I have made straight apple before. Let me know how they freeze. Kids love them! :)
Pancakes are such a great idea! I hope thats dinner! You are the best uncle! I knoqw you arent religious, but, I'll keep you in my prayers.
You really need one of those!!
Have a great time. You should record that violin for ten years from now.
Popsicles yeah, called ice blocks here; I couldn't remember what you Americans called them. I'll let you know how it goes.
I have some video of him playing the violin, I might send you a short one on Discord. It's rather terrible, but he's my nephew, so it's good. 😉
Nice one kiddo!
Aw! That is so nice to have a garden full if these fruits! 🥹
Fruits are good huh?
Yes sir! Fruits are good. How I wish I also have those berries in the garden.
I'm sure you enjoyed such a quality time and fun with the little cutie :) He know how to post lol, look at the first pic how adorable he is :) The tomatoes look delicious no doubt that he ate almost of them :) The toys, he got spoiled :)
He seems to enjoy playing piano even though it's terrible, haha, well, I'm sure he'll get better soon :) Happy new year @galenkp and best wishes for health, wealth, and luck in the coming year.
No, I meant that him playing the violin sounds terrible, I was not referring to the piano.
Sorry my bad.. I’m sure he’s enjoying it and that’s all that matters 😊
Good morning sir, I did really love your articles and have read many of them. I am receiving downvotes on every post I do from your side and I do not Know the reason for this happening. If you could provide me the reason for downvotes then I would be thankful and will get chance to correct my mistake. I apologize for the thing you hated about my posts and respectedly asking you to please give me a chance to correct myself.
Thank you, have an amazing day ahead.
Please look into this, a humble request, don't want my work to be wasted :(
You've read many of them and never commented once. I wonder why.
Replying is never a necessity.
Well then, I'll take a leaf out of your book and not reply to you from this point.
Your choice, but you should tell why a downvote. Doing such to newbies ain't gonna do anything.
👇
😂 OH, see, its not good to measure the thing you love from replies and as a good human being please "comment" the reason for downvote 😅 , you can downvote forever but the reason for receiving one is important to know.
Aaaaahhh what does he have to be so cute for XD
