He just doesn’t get it. The Commission on Presidential Debates sets the rules. Potential Participant X has no power to allow or disallow the rules. They can only accept them or not show up.
A grand total of one person thinks that Donald Trump won the first debate.
Assuming that the Commission does change the rules (by giving the moderator an off switch for microphones), this can play out one of two ways, neither of which helps Trump’s election chances:
Trump throws a hissy fit and has his campaign refuse to agree to the changes. Debates 2 and 3 are cancelled with Biden winning them by default.
Trump throws a hissy fit but allows his campaign to agree to the changes. Since Trump is physically incapable of shutting his mouth when it’s his turn to be quiet, we have another dumpster fire of a debate. Trump interrupts and has his microphone turned off. He goes full gonzo and yells his interruptions. Trump loses the second debate and the third is cancelled.
