COVID 19 THE CLOG IN THE WHEEL OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

in PoliticallyIncorrect3 years ago (edited)

Reviewing the recent red list issued out by the Uk government and also the various travel bans imposed by the UAE and Canada, i am bewildered at why a country that has more cases of this particular virus wakes up one morning and decided to ban other smaller countries from coming into their country in the pretext of trying to stop the spread of the new variant when the reverse should be the case.
it is appalling to see that this travel ban is majorly targeted at African countries ones with vested interest in international politics at that. it became more saddening when some journalist reports the Omicron as the African Variant. this further proves that there is a deliberate attempt to blame African for the plight of the world whereas they are mere victims of circumstance.

However, ever since the beginning of the Covid era i've observed with keen interest on how this plague would overturn the status quo in international relations and i was not disappointed.

Finally we see smaller countries like Nigeria speaking up to the big bullies in the wake of the travel ban thereby causing the UK and UAE to revoke their earlier decision and consider destroying the list. it's a simple case of if you ban us we'd ban you and let's see if you can survive without us.

One thing we have to understand is with the era of information technology, population explosion and globalization, the world has become a global village and diplomatic relations has shifted from one sided or boss to slave relationship to a symbiotic one. this simply means no nation of the world is self sufficient and no nation of the world is self dependent including America. whether you have all the resources of this world at your disposal or not, you are dependent on other nations whether small or big for other services either directly or indirectly.
As big ad self sufficient as China is, they depend on other nations to purchase their products and vice versa, thus making assumptions that a country irrespective of size has veto power to make decisions without considering the diplomatic and global impact is a big blunder and i thing the UK just realised that with Nigeria standing up to them and calling their bluff.
In the face of international relations and maintaining diplomatic relationship, the tides have change and the power balance is has ben upset to a more balanced state where smaller countries have found their voice and are ready to be heard irrespective of their size or the significance of their concerns.

We are gradually getting to the era of equality irrespective of size and that we learn to accommodate and live with one another irrespective of race, colour, sexual orientation, believes, tradition and every other psycho social fonts we have been divide before.
