It was a cold winter morning when the school principal sent words through the head boy that all students are required to assemble before his office. Nobody knows the reason for the urgent gathering and of all the places, the principal's office.
Kodjo concluded that somebody had committed an offence which requires immediate and strict discipline by no lesser a person than the principal in front of his office.
To avoid being tagged the 'scapegoat' kodjo went with his friend Assam to answer the call. At the principal's office they were meant to wait for about five minutes before the big masquerade appeared. Kodjo was afraid, just like every other student.
Their anticipation heightened as the principal emerged from his office. Kodjo observed that he had polished his brass-looking moustache. That makes him to look very serious and terrifying. He feared for the worst.
The principal did not waste time to announce the reason why he had summoned all of them. Some students had gone clubbing and scaled the fence to come in that morning. Unknown to them the security man recognised them all.
The principal started mentioning their names and unfortunately kodjo's bossom friend Kwame was among the victims. They were immediately paraded before other students who were hitherto then afraid but stared booing the truants with joy on their faces.
Soon the principal handed them, about five of them in number, with a brown envelope containing their terms of punishment which is usually a two weeks suspension from school. With that the emergency gathering was dismissed and everyone was asked to return to their classes while the offenders were ordered to begin the serving of their suspension terms with immediate effect.
