The Curse of the Dybbuk Box

in Freewriters5 years ago

The Dybbuk Box is a wine box that is believed to have been owned by a Holocaust survivor named Havela, who traveled to America after the holocaust and brought the box with her. At some point during Havela's ownership of the box, a Dybbuk was summoned and possessed the box.

A Dybbuk is a Hebrew legend of a wandering soul that does not go to heaven and possesses evil people. They are usually malicious spirits that haunt and sometimes possess people or items.

When Havela passed away, her box was sold to Kevin Mannis. Kevin claimed nothing out of the ordinary happened until he opened the box. Once the box was open, he began to smell weird scents in his house and started to see shadows. Then he started to have dreams of a demon that would attack him while he slept.

Kevin did not initially believe the box was the cause of the strange things that were happening, and he gifted the box to his mother. The very same day, his mother received the gift she had a stroke. After his mother's stroke, Kevin understood the box was evil, and he had to get rid of it. Kevin being the outstanding guy that he was, tried to give it away to his siblings, who all promptly returned the box. Kevin tried selling the box, but every buyer returned it, claiming they all experienced terrifying events once in possession of the box.

Kevin finally got lucky and sold the box to Iosif Nietzke. Once Iosif brought the box to his apartment and opened it, his roommates began complaining about the box, making them physically ill. Iosif did not belive his roommates until his hair began to fall out. Iosif, now terrified of the box, was able to find Jason Haxton, who was interested in the box because it was believed to be cursed.

Jason soon learned the hard way that the box was, in fact, cursed. Jason claimed that shortly after opening the box, welts appeared all over his body. After the welts, he began to cough up blood. Jason feared the box was going to cause him to die, so he sought out the help of rabbis who sealed the Dybbuk in the box again. Jason buried the box in a secret location and refused to tell anyone where he buried it in fear they would unleash the curse again. Jason did eventually retrieve the box, and he donated it to Zak Bagans of Ghost Adventures to display in his museum.
