You surely braved through speaking on very sensitive topics. I respect that about you, how you share in the beginning a gentle warning to read this with a level head because it may be triggering. My saying,
being human is having emotions
and sometimes emotions we never knew were there come out at the most unexpected times :)
And the followers in a group are often those with low critical-thinking skills. Instead of thinking an issue through themselves
I’m glad you said often because not all followers have low critical-thinking skills. I am very grateful and blessed to have been apart of this platform early on which enabled me to be a founder of a growing community as well as a leader in other groups and aspects on Hive. However, the groups or areas that I am not a leader in I willfully express my concerns, opinions and even objections as kindly as I know how.
I can see and understand why many people are afraid to express their opinions and true feelings due to the fear of being rejected or even having a bad name for speaking up. When I recently spoke up about a situation I felt was unfair to Hiver veterans (to a well known and respectable group) I did have a few thoughts and concerns how that group would see me afterwards but my heart was too strong on it and I knew I had to express what I was feeling. Due to me moving forward with it and not backing out because of those thoughts, that group listened and considered changing up how they worded things.
I shared that for two reasons. One, to make a point that there are followers that do think for themselves and Two, to encourage others that positive change can be made if you are passionate about what you feel and believe it would better the whole.
I’m not sure if you did this intentionally but in one of your doodles, the one about most agreement most power you used the name Veronica instead of Olivia ;)
they know our society runs on an attention-economy.”
If this ain’t the truth. Attention is a high factor in most cases. Unfortunately I think the reason many leaders start out great and then decline in their ability to lead is because of bad influence. We live in a people pleasing society and many lose themselves or better yet sell their souls in order to keep people happy and on their side.
Once again this was a great write up and you did it in a non-offensive way which I appreciate. Those doodles really help tie everything in as well as make these hard to talk about subjects a little lighter in a sense.
Okay, I’m off to do laundry and then I’ll be back to read Part 2 :)
Thank you for saying so. I feel the world could use more people doing their best to speak up gently on sensitive topics, and love when I manage to do so myself.
And your saying is simple yet powerful, a hugely important concept often neglected by many of us, which is likely why "sometimes emotions we never knew were there come out at the most unexpected times." :)
I appreciate your passion and clarification about followers who use their critical thinking skills well. I definitely agree, and it is indeed why I specifically chose the word 'often' when describing the situation.
I'm not aware of the exact details of what you went through, but I love when someone follows their heart, sticks to their truth, and speaks up. I've observed it having a tendency to 'go well' whenever it's done.
OMG, you're the only person in all my proofreaders (mySELF included) who caught that mistake. I'll likely make edits sometime this week and I've added it to my list. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your eye for detail here and for pointing it out so kindly.
I agree with you. People-pleasing and attention-chasing is an extremely slippery slope, take one slippery step onto it and one may find themselves in a deep pit, if not an incredibly skillful navigator.
Taking a topic that is almost 'solely' discussed in 'offensive' ways, felt like a fun challenge, and I'm thrilled that it seems to have turned out. #SavedByDoodles
Wishing you a smooth enjoyable laundry, and a similar thing for your read of pt. 2! 🙏
Hahaha oh wow! Well I’m glad I mentioned it then. Yes, I tend to look at details and examine things closely. Of course it helps that I love your Doodles so much ;D
I’m glad this was a fun challenge for you :)
You and me both :) 😁🙌🙏
The image has been corrected, thank you again. :)
