How could anyone resist the site of a Huge bag of money? just laying there for anyone to take it may well have been there for him.
He decided to go for it and when he held it, he was shot.

He played into the hands of his enemies who probably had researched him and known his weakness, money.
If only he had the discipline and mindset to walk away and resist the urge then his life might have been spared.
