He had promised not to return to his hometown but by a strange feeling in his body, he wanted to spend that weekend in the city he had walked so much in his youth. Now with the passing of the years, he decided to return, the first thing he would do would be to visit the family that he loved so much.
Lonely girl
Raul was the only son of a family made up of his father and mother. At the age of 15, Raul was not a very communicative teenager. He had several classmates with whom he used to study.
His parents, who were overprotective, did not allow him to have much freedom, so he could only communicate with the people his parents chose.
They were well-to-do. His mother was a prominent businesswoman and his father was the lawyer and administrator of everything they had. For that same condition they were very demanding with their beloved son.
Carol, was his best friend. She came from a very humble family, whom Raul learned to love. Carol also had a brother, Jhonny, older than her, with a bad character, bad behavior, in bad company, but who knew how to hide his bad path in life.
Raul used to sneak out of high school and go home with Carol, after greeting his parents, they would go to the back of the house which had a huge backyard. The boundaries of the yard bordered a large wooded area that both boys enjoyed. They would walk around and talk about their youth, their way of life, their families, and what they wanted in life.
This is how their lives were going when a fire ravaged Raul's parents' house. While he was walking with his friend Carol, his parents' house was burning... with them inside.
"Everything seems to indicate that it was a short circuit that started in the living room and quickly went upstairs,” said the veteran firefighter.
"The investigations continue, but all the findings lead us to this assumption."
"After 15 days the definitive diagnosis of the whole diagnosis of this terrible tragedy will come out,”
-Said the authorities.-
There was no way to console Raul, he had relatives outside the town and he would have to go to live with them. He was the sole heir to his parents' estate. So he left.
After a few years of study, he was a lawyer, taking care of the business left by his parents.
It was thus that a strange feeling would take him back to his hometown. Suddenly he had memories of his youth and his arms were bristling with hair. He decided to go for the weekend to visit old friends.
He was driving down the lonely avenue at the time and saw his old friend Carol walking by. Coincidence? Strange. He stopped, greeted her...
Hi Carol! Do you remember me? I'm Raul...
She looked at him with a certain smile, as if forged, and answered him.
Of course!,
I remember you, Raul! What are you doing in town?
“I'm coming here because of a strange feeling I've had these days. I said to myself...
and why not? Why not visit my friend Carol, after 6 years of absence.-
Carol looked at him with no expression on her face. Only her eyes had this strange color, a kind of cloud that covered them as if she were sick.
Carol, didn't share sad moments with him, she only allowed him to talk about his life. And she noticed that he had been doing very well.
After a few hours of conversation, it was time to say goodbye and Carol told him to drop her off on another street, she was going to visit somewhere else. Although the place was lonely, it bore some resemblance to the places they frequented when they were together.
This it was a single street, with houses dotted about and filled with a thicket of greenery. Even a cross stood on the side of the road, as a sign that in that place lay the memory of an accident of some inhabitant of the town.
Not far down the road, she told him... stop, leave me here. We'll meet again some other day.
He left her there, thinking that she was different from the one he had met before. She was very sad as if immersed in restless thoughts. Another day he would inquire more about her friend's life.
After dropping her off she headed back to the hotel, tomorrow she would leave again and meet her friend and her family. As she got out of the car she noticed that her friend had left her purse in the back of the car. And she thought out loud...
Wow! -I'll have to go to her house to bring her purse. When she realizes she doesn't have her purse in her hands she'll be worried about her keys or whatever else he's holding...
It was not too late yet, almost 6 o'clock in the evening and the sun was still shining on the road. He arrived at the house he used to visit, got out of the car, and knocked on the door.
Carol's brother came out, it took him by surprise but he immediately knew who he was. After a handshake, Raul let her know that he was visiting and had met his sister in the afternoon. She had left her purse in her car so she was coming to drop it off at his house. She must need it when she got back from where he dropped her off.
Jhonny paled, held the bag in his hands, and recognized it immediately.
He said to Raul...
"this can't be, my sister Carol, she died 4 months ago in an accident. A car hit her and fled."
Raul, recoiled in shock at the news, but without realizing he had Carol behind him, who was telling him...
It was him, he rammed me, he was the one who killed me... my own brother, help me!.
