Checkmate
The dictator awoke. His hands tied, his face bruised. Betrayed by the old snob. Longing for a cigarette.
Afar, a crowd waited. “Everything is settled,” he heard.
His execution turned into a tournament.
“Be a good citizen,” echoed.
The blows rained.
“You are human after all,” he heard and cried.
