"Artificial intelligence will reach human levels by around 2029. Follow that out further to, say, 2045, we will have multiplied the intelligence, the human biological machine intelligence of our civilization a billion-fold." -Ray Kurzweil

"AI has the potential to bring about unprecedented advancements in fields as diverse as healthcare, education, and transportation, and to transform the way we live and work." -Andrew Ng

"The rise of powerful AI will be either the best or the worst thing ever to happen to humanity. We do not yet know which." -Stephen Hawking

As we enter the 21st century, the impact of artificial intelligence on our lives is becoming increasingly apparent. From self-driving cars to virtual personal assistants, AI is changing the way we interact with technology. But the potential of AI goes far beyond just these conveniences - it has the power to revolutionize entire industries and transform the way we live and work.

As Ray Kurzweil predicts, we are on the cusp of a technological singularity in which AI will surpass human intelligence. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities, but also raises important ethical questions about how we should use this technology. Stephen Hawking reminds us that the rise of AI could have both positive and negative consequences, and we must be mindful of the potential risks as well as the benefits.

Despite the challenges, the potential of AI to improve our lives is undeniable. Andrew Ng, a pioneer in the field of AI, points out that it has the potential to bring about advancements in healthcare, education and transportation. It is up to us to harness this technology in a responsible and ethical manner, to build a brighter future for all.

I read Homo Deus recently and it's not too encouraging. I assume AI can keep building on what it learns and eventually learn to improve itself beyond what we can do. Then it's a matter of how much autonomy it has and how it wants to treat us. Science fiction has played out plenty of scenarios, but we cannot think like something that is way beyond us.

I just wonder how far off it is as people have been working on it since computers were invented. The current 'AI' chat bots are just mining text rather than creating something new, but when you effectively have access to new knowledge you can find things that have not been put together before. People will play with this stuff anyway.
