I didn't eat meat for many years :) And now, I do my best to support those that raise animals in an animal-oriented way and with regenerative practices. It cost a lot more, but meat should be a very small part of the diet IMO.
The turkey I was cooking was gifted to us and food waste is a big nono in my world - and my husband loves meat. What can I say lol
