I am sitting at the coffee shop, opening my ‘surprise’ wrap with a thrilling anticipation of a sandwich that would taste heavenly, the crust exploding into thousands of tiny particles in my mouth.
To begin with, my mouth had watered at the prospect of eating a real sandwich, perfectly balanced and delicious, with many layers of ingredients like tomato slices, egg particles, veggies, cheese, but when I took my first bite, I discovered that this wasn't what I expected as a surprise gift from Emilia.
Emilia was my friend who was celebrating her birthday on that day, but because I couldn't attend due to the nature of my job, she had sent a surprise package across.
It contained my sandwich and I couldn't wait to unravel and devour it during my lunch break, at the coffee shop.
the ‘surprise’ turned out to be the worst sandwich I had ever tasted.
Having mustered the courage to take a second bite, I found… pineapple. On a sandwich! At that point, the bread had disintegrated to something worse than crumbled dry sand and inside it was wilted, sad looking lettuce. I was so disappointed.
