Letulah listened in silence as each person filled her in on what she hadn’t heard via rumours lately. Mary was right. Something was strange. There had been several massive events, but nothing was mentioned about the cult, and she wondered if she should say anything.

After all, the cult was the reason she had come here. She had hoped that she could get some help in some form. But now she realised that this kingdom knew nothing about what was happening outside its own borders. Someone was intentionally doing this. Keeping this kingdom buried in problems was benefiting someone.

She looked at the prince who returned her stare. Neither dropped their gaze until Letulah finally spoke up.

“Are you aware of a death cult emerging beyond the borders of your kingdom?”
Everyone around the table fell silent and looked at her in interest.

“A death cult? As in sacrifices?” Adiran tried to fish for more information.

“Well, I guess if you count murdering people and then resurrecting them as undead fighters as sacrifices.”

Adiran frowned deeply and looked at Adrian. The prince sighed deeply and nodded his head.

“What?” demanded Magna.

“I’ve been cold.” Said the prince with no emotion.

“So, you’re always cold, ever since…since Dad died.” Magna faltered over the last few words.

“It’s been getting worse. I thought it was because of the magic that released the Greenskins, but a death cult may be more than what it seems.”

“Death cults are nothing new.” Said Gorox as he rocked back on his chair.

Noxus smiled at her simple friend and said, “It is; if it’s a cult that’s been started because of the Cold One.”

Gorox frowned and let his feet slip to the floor before sitting upright. He looked to Adiran and said, “And you sensed nothing?”

“I’m not omnipotent, Gorox.” Sighed the mage as he pulled at his beard.

He got to his feet and started pacing.

“What ails you?” asked Mary.

“He’s never done this before.”

“You mean gather a cult?”

“He never needed to. He had strategic people who would bring him what he needed, but he never allowed a cult. I mean, there was the 17, but they weren't for the Cold One."

“Is it a possibility that perhaps in the times where you travelled, they were hidden or there were distractions like the ones we face now?” asked Mortis.

Adiran paused and fixed the undead knight with a withered look, “I’m starting to think I missed a lot of things.”

He then looked to Letulah, “And what is your investment against this death cult?”
Letulah blinked a few times and stared at the mage in confusion. She hadn’t mentioned anything about her being invested in the cult. She looked over to Mary who waved her hands, showing that she had said nothing of their conversation to the mage.

Adiran still waited for the answer, and she knew he wasn’t going to let this go now that she had hesitated. She gave herself a few minutes of internal turmoil before saying.

“Barakus has an interest in them, not me.”

Adiran nearly collapsed to the ground with shock and Millmor snarled. The rest of the table could only watch in silence. The mage chuckled and exclaimed, “And now it all makes sense.”

He returned to his seat and pointed to Letulah, “I thought I smelled undead on you, but I thought you came through battles to get here. No, you are enslaved to a lich.”

“I am enslaved to no one!” Letulah rose to her feet and slammed her fists on the table.

Vitex was the first to notice the fur sprouting out the cuffs of the long-sleeved shirt the woman wore. She then noticed the fur descending to Letulah’s hands. She then understood how the curse had touched the woman. She leaned forward and said, “Don’t upset her, it will do nothing to progress these talks.”

“Letty…” started Mary.

“I thought what I said to the two of you was said in confidence.”

“I deduced this myself.” Sneered Adiran.

“Calm.” Reminded Vitex.

“How exactly did you get mixed up with Barakus of all things?” demanded Adiran.

Letulah released her fists and now everyone noticed the long, clawed fingers. Adrian and Magna, used to their uncle’s transformation, seemed unbothered by what was happening. Everyone else? Not so much.

“Oh Letty!” sighed Mary when she noticed the transformation.

“Don’t look at me like that! I don’t need your pity! I am here to help you, not the other way around!”

“Calm.” Instructed Vitex once more as she got to her feet.
