lowest court in the land This is my post for #freewriters 2629 prompt hosted by @mariannewest

One of my daughters has worked for many years for a service that helps children or young women. It has not been "just a job" to her, she cares for the ones who are under her care and the ones who aren't under her care. She now has several people who work under her and she does not tolerate them not giving 100% to the children under their care.

She has told me stories about some of the children she has cared for, nothing personal, stories like how she drove 250 miles one way to take two boys for ice cream after she got the news that their Grandfather passed away. She helped the grandparents get custody of the boys.

Another story was how she drove across the state to help a young girl who found out she was pregnant. Not only for emotional support but also to put her in touch with the different organizations that could help before and after the child's birth, she informed her of all of her options and told her there was also adoption. She told her if she felt she could not give her child love or if she could not care for it to pick up the phone and call her.

All of the options were left up to the girl, my daughter helped her fill out job applications, she got a job, and she put her in touch with an unwed mother's organization and they helped her find a place to live. Even babysitting was arranged, if that is what she wanted and she did.

Neither of the children in these two stories were still under her care, their cases were closed, but that did not stop my daughter from caring about them.

There was one girl who touched her like no other. When this girl was in her teens and having trouble with her Foster Mother, my daughter decided she would adopt her instead of placing her into another foster home.

I was in court with them, I sat there not only looking at my daughter but the woman in front of me who was pleading her case to the judge. I think everyone hung onto my daughter's words of love for this girl. As for me, I was filled with pride at the woman who stood before me and knowing that I was her Mother. (The picture is the only one I could find from that day, I know I took more than one, but where are they)

Adoption cases are not heard in the lowest court in the land, they are heard in family court or other courts like, Circuit court, District court, Superior court, Probate court, Juvenile court, or Surrogate court.

My Son who is in jail has been seen by the lowest court in the land, they do not even go to court, they are on video with the judge. He will be getting out next week.

I have to pick up his belongings before he gets out so my sister said she would take me but it had to be on Friday or Monday. I called the jail to double check if I could pick them up and they told me I could only pick them up on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. How can things work out like that?

My sister said she could do it on Tuesday, but I had told her I had a doctor app that day. Now she says she will take me to my appointment and after it, we will make the 2 hour trip to the jail.

Again I am filled with pride at who this woman turned out to be. She was on the streets for 15 years, to now 20 years clean and raising her granddaughters. Never give up, miracles do happen.

reading back, this sounds more like a story of being proud of people rather than a post about the lowest court, but this is what my fingers wrote, maybe someone other than me needs it.

Sort:

The "pro choice" crowd likes to assert the pro-life people only care about babies in the womb, but they don't really care about mothers or babies, especially if they reject the welfare state. It sounds like your daughter is one of the living counterexamples.

She cares for these young women and she makes sure they know all options available to them, and she makes sure they know they are the only one who has a say in what happens to their bodies.

She has some people who work under her that treat their job as a job, not as helping or caring about someone. She either gets them "with the program" or they get moved to another department.
