Once winter gets here the mackerel and other fish move south. The ocean water has become too cold for them here. The fish never really move, it is the tide that moves and the fish stay in the water temperature they like, the water moves and the fish stay in it. Back then if we were to catch anything we had to travel to where the fish were which was 2 hours south. We would leave one of our boats there and drive back and forth.

There was a fleet of bigger boats that a plane told where the fish were and he directed them on when to throw the buoy and which way to go, he was famous for giving the wrong way, saying things like go the other north when someone was going north like he said to go and he wanted them to go south. On the plane he gets confused as to which is left or right, one day he told one of our friends to put a glove on his right hand so he would know which it was.

The plane was going to guide us around a school of mackerel and he says Donny go left and we never heard anything else from him. We saw fish and made the set on our own. Three days later the plane came on the radio and asked if we were still going left.

On the plane, he keeps the radio mike on his lap and when he picked up his glass of tea to take a drink, he dropped it and ruined the radio mike, he could not talk to anyone.

When the plane put us on fish we paid him 10% of our catch and until we got our own boat we paid the fish house 1/3 of the catch for use of their boat.
