My husband found Rudy's cage on Market Place, it was even in our town not 5 miles from our house. When we went to buy it we were talking to the man who was selling it. His daughter came outside and he said go get the cat. She looked at him sideways and said a name but I forget what it was and he said yes bring her out here.
The little girl came back with a house cat in her arms. The cat was not moving. It was their cat that had passed away and they had it mounted by a taxidermist. The only thought I had was "to each his own".
I would not be surprised if one day the taxidermist takes it one step further and makes his mounts animated. I loved every cat and dog I had and who has passed away and I still miss them. But to have one that looked like the one I loved be an artificial dog. We would not have the same connection I had with them before they passed. I think it would make me miss the real animal more, so like having a pet mounted to keep in your home, an artificial dog is not the way I want to remember them.
