Megan was very happy this Christmas, because as a result of her hard work and effort she had saved enough money to buy the latest model of the most famous phone on the market. So early in the morning on December 25th, she opened her gift to herself... jumping and screaming, she showed her family how happy and wonderful her life is going to be now, because she is going to have with this new device with a sharper camera and more functions to enjoy all the contents of social networks. Although it is very normal to give ourselves small gifts to elevate our mood, her family and close friends noticed that there was too much excitement on Megan's part for the best social network connection... Rosa, her older sister, who had come to spend the holidays from the south of the country... because of her job as a teacher she knew that her sister's attitude was a bad sign.
Rosa, commented with the rest of the family that she was seeing signs in her sister similar to those she had seen in children in her school who present an addiction to social networks. She also informed them that this addiction is being considered a public health problem.

So from Christmas days until the new year everyone tried to talk to Megan about current affairs, national politics or international events related to Christmas but in vain... She only talked about tik tok videos, viral challenges and super lazy and even implausible content she saw on social networks... these and other bad signals alerted the family even more.
They tried unsuccessfully to disconnect her from the phone, at some point and before the new year they even turned off the wi-fi which generated anguish and a very high state of anxiety in Megan.
His sister from teaching experience was reminded that a term used by the school's psycho-pedagogue named Brian rot ... Which has been coined by researchers has been coined to determine when a person has a mental state in which thoughts abound that are very trivial and far from reality due to the excessive consumption of social networks...
Rosa with a worried face tells the rest of the family: I think we should do a family intervention, talk seriously with Megan so that she understands that all these behavioral signs are an alert that she could be going through a major disorder.

Una mala señal
Megan muy contenta en estas navidades, pues producto de su esfuerzo y trabajo había ahorrado lo suficiente para comprarse el último modelo del teléfono más famoso que hay en el mercado. Así que el 25 de diciembre muy temprano en la mañana, ella abrió su regalo que se hizo a sí misma… brincando y gritando, mostraba a su familia lo feliz y maravillosa que va a ser su vida ahora, porque va a tener con este nuevo aparato con mayor nitidez de la de cámara fotográfica así con mas funciones para disfrutar de todos los contenidos de las redes sociales. Aunque es muy normal realizarnos pequeños regalos para elevar nuestro estado de ánimo, su familia y sus amigos cercanos notaron que había demasiada emoción por parte de Megan por la mejor conexión para las redes sociales… Rosa su hermana mayor, que había venido a pasar las festividades desde el sur del país… por su trabajo de maestra sabía que esa actitud de su hermana era una mala señal.
Rosa, comento con el resto de la familia que estaba viendo señales en su hermana similares a las que había visto en niños en su colegio los cuales presentan una adicción a las redes sociales. Además les informo que esta adicción se está considerando como un problema de salud pública.
•¡vamos a hacer una prueba! les dijo al resto de la familia… tratemos de que Megan establezca más conversaciones con nosotros y deje a un lado su nuevo teléfono.
Así desde los días de Navidad hasta el año nuevo todos trataron de hablar con Megan sobre temas de actualidad, sobre la política nacional o sobre eventos internacionales referidos a la Navidad pero era en vano… Ella solo hablaba de videos de tik Tok, de retos virales y de contenidos muy súper flojos y hasta inverosímiles que veía en las redes sociales… estas y otras malas señales alertó aún más a la familia.
Intentaron sin éxito desconectarla del teléfono, en algún momento y antes del año nuevo incluso apagaron el wi-fi lo cual generó una angustia y un estado de ansiedad muy elevado en Megan.
Su hermana por la experiencia docente se recordó que un término que usó la psicopedagoga del colegio que se denomina Brian rot ... El cual ha sido acuñado por los investigadores se ha acuñado para determinar cuando una persona tiene un estado mental en el cual abundan pensamientos muy triviales y alejados de la realidad por el excesivo consumo de las redes sociales…
Rosa con rostro de preocupación les dice al resto de la familia: Creo que debemos hacer una intervención familiar, hablar seriamente con Megan para que entienda que todas estas señales de comportamiento son una alerta de que puede estar pasando por un trastorno mayor.
Para luego sentenciar: Si no nos hace caso tendremos que llevarla a una consulta especializada… creo que cada uno de nosotros a su vez debemos estar atentos de estas malas señales que pueden estar dándonos nuestros hijos para evitar problemas mayores. Cada día hay más adicción a las redes sociales..
