So Much Anger

There is so much rage that it seems to be overflowing and seeping into everything and everyone in its path. Anger, which is fuelled by disappointment, frustration, and occasionally even hurt, is such a raw, strong force—a fire that burns hot and red. We frequently strive to suppress this emotion because we know deep down that letting it out can have irreversible consequences. However, there are moments when it seems nearly impossible to contain it.

Anger is weighty and pulsating in the chest, accompanied by loud silences and racing thoughts. It's there when you have to keep repeating yourself to someone who isn't paying attention, when promises are broken, and when people talk over you. When you feel ignored, unheard, and invisible, you can get really angry. The saddest aspect is that hardly any media feels justified or fair enough to publish it.

We convince ourselves that it's not worth it, that it doesn't matter, and that we'll feel better tomorrow. However, it does matter sometimes. It is really important. Attempting to repress anger just causes it to concentrate within, where it festers, becomes more acute, feeds on itself, and changes into resentment or perhaps simply a dull ache.

What are you going to do with so much rage? Even while you can scream and smash objects, you usually cause more harm to yourself. Finding a way to let it go without losing who you are or allowing it to mould you is the true challenge. Understanding that anger can be a warning or a signal, but it doesn't have to define who you are, is like learning to breathe through fire.
