The Dinghy Race Around the Island

in Freewriters6 months ago

In the misty morn, the call was clear,
A dinghy race was drawing near.
Around the isle of the Pacific Northwest,
Where nature’s splendor stands confessed.

The harbor buzzed with eager cheer,
As sailors prepped their boats with care.
Wooden dinghies, stout and brave,
Ready to dance on the ocean wave.

The starting horn, a mighty blow,
Set the dinghies in a row.
Sails unfurled to catch the breeze,
Skimming across the emerald seas.

Past rocky cliffs and ancient pines,
Tracing the island’s rugged lines.
Through narrow straits and open bays,
The course unwound in winding ways.

Seagulls called from their lofty heights,
As boats cut paths in foamy whites.
Currents tugged with playful might,
In the crisp morning light.

The scent of salt and pine combined,
With every stroke, our hearts aligned.
Eyes on the prize, we raced with glee,
In the spirit of camaraderie.

The finish line drew into sight,
Beneath the sun’s ascending light.
Cheers erupted from the shore,
As dinghies crossed and roared for more.

The race was done, the journey made,
In the tranquil island's evergreen shade.
We gathered ‘round with stories to share,
Of the dinghy race and the ocean air.

In the Pacific Northwest’s embrace,
We found our joy in the dinghy race.
A memory etched in hearts so true,
Of an island quest ‘neath skies so blue.

🐬🐬🐬Donate to the Dolphin Project 🐬🐬🐬https://www.dolphinproject.com/donate/
Dolphin Project is a non-profit charitable organization, dedicated to the welfare and protection of dolphins worldwide. Founded by Richard (Ric) O’Barry on Earth Day, April 22, 1970, the organization aims to educate the public about captivity and, where feasible, retire and/or release captive dolphins.
The mission of Dolphin Project is to end dolphin exploitation and slaughter, as dolphins are routinely captured, harassed, slaughtered and sold into captivity around the world – all in the name of profit. Dolphin Project works not only to halt these slaughters, but also to rehabilitate captive dolphins for retirement and/or release, investigate and advocate for economic alternatives to dolphin slaughter, and to put a permanent end to dolphin captivity.

Port Sundries is not affiliated with Dolphin Project but supports their goal 100%.
